I am getting "view first unread" for Kitty's "Where are you from?" thread, so I don't think it is anything in the start up of a new thread.

And that makes it all the more curious!

I think you only find the "View first unread...

I think you only find the "View first unread post" in a message thread where there is a new message and you have not read yet. Once you display the page with the new unread message and then navigate...
