Can you take a picture of the old one? The only sound I have ever heard was a gurgling sound when they are low on refrigerant there really are no moving parts. Your old water heater can be fitted...

They make absolutely no noise if they are working...

They make absolutely no noise if they are working properly and will take hours to cool off from warm. Two things, see if the chimney is getting warm first it's a vertical tube on the right side...

Depends on year or module of the units. The fridge usually will run on one or the other the water heater usually on gas but some had electrical heaters too.
