That just might last a while then. But if you do have to replace them, you should see if you could make some A&E springs work. Very common and hopefully easy to find.

That's what I was afraid of. There's probably a way to rewind the spring, but I'm not familiar with that kind of awning to know exactly how. Can you post a pic of the ends of the awning tube?
