We are trying a poly spackle compound that claims water resistance and is indoor outdoor..up here that means +40C to -40C (roughly 100° to -40° F) so I am hopeful...

Placed a 2x8 under the sill and on top of 1/8...

Placed a 2x8 under the sill and on top of 1/8 aluminum strips that are supporting on either side of the repair.
I was able to bolt one side to the frame and the other I will screw into the aluminum...
