Question NY State Parkway system

Ok guys, you've always steered me right in the past so let's see what you know....

I'm planning a trip that will bring me across NY near the city from CT to NJ. The question is the NY Parkway system regulations and low bridges. I've read the regs as they are issued and think I'm good pulling the trailer, but I don't know if there are any I should stay away from due to unusually low bridges, or should I just stick to the main commercial truck routes.

I stay away from NYC......You can't go on NY Parkways with a trailer.
You can go on the NJ Garden State Parkway. I don't know where you are going to But, I travel across 287 to the Tappanzee bridge then take the NJ Garden state Parkway south, No problems with low bridges etc.
You can take 95 in CT to 287.

Remember that propane is banned from tunnels in the NYC area and elsewhere as well. Don't plan any route that has a tunnel.

95 in CT is horrible and the Tappan Zee is about 20 minutes out of the way for me so I'll be staying on the interstates then and using the GWB.

I'm a Tappan Zee fan and except for one time I've avoided the GWB with our RVs.

We once took the GWB because we thought it would be faster and there was a family emergency. First it was our most expensive toll ever; second the NYC side of the bridge had the worst road surface ever, worse than anything in Labrador or Alaska. We have never again gone that way. Maybe stimulaus money has allowed repaving but it was awful, shook the rig severly. Definitely not good for tires,

As to CT we never take 95, generally we grab I-84.

Driving in the Northeast has a timing component. Holidays and weekends and time of day need to be factored in no matter what Interstate you take.

Safe travels to you,
