Wanted-2753
We are looking for a clean, dry (no water leaks) 2005 or newer 2753. We are located near Frederick MD and will travel a reasonable distance for a good trailer.
Thanks,
Rich

Thanks Janalee, those are Craigslist ads for the most part and I've seen them all, but I like that you can have them all listed on one page.
Also, I wanted to modify our search, we like the 2753, but a nice 2553 would be good as well.
Thanks,
Rich

Rich...I owned a 1553 for a very short time..didn't notice when I bought it and fell in love with it,that the sofa is only a loveseat! No place to stretch out but in the bedroom!! And no real closets....I traded that one about 5 months later for a 2653!Now that's a great unit! Have had two of those in the past.Large hallway wardrobe with drawers...and much more storage, swivel chair, entertainment cabinet, and a fullsize sofa.
Two years ago I came close to buying a 2753--my van couldn't tow it..but it is a real nice floorplan-I reluctantly decided it was not in the cards for me. I will tell you, they are hard to find..the one I located was in Florida but we were headed there anyway..Good luck in your search. You might want to pm Tweety--she bought one but didn't keep it too long. She could tell you the pros and cons. I would really recommend a 2653 all the way!!!

I keep it bookmarked..another SOC member told me about it a couple of years ago..the format is really nice.

We had our 2753 for 4 years. I still miss her sometimes. We both loved that floor plan. We wanted something with a slide and bigger holding tanks for longer trips. If you want to keep it simple with no slides but lots of storage and space, the 2753 is a winner.

Well, the 2753 is another model with a small sofa-only 66" long-and no wardrobe--but Pam got around that as I recall with a rod in the bedroom for hanging clothes on it. It is a very attractive unit with a good kitchen area. The one I looked at had a tight space to get around the foot of the bed but the door could come off which would give a bit more room.

Janalee, what year was that 2653? I see as of 2005 at least, no 2653 was offered. We are trying to stay newer than 2004 since the condition is generally better, but on a very well taken care of unit, we'd go older for a good floorplan.
I did look back at a 2000 brochure to find one and also found something interesting. The 2753 from 2005 up lists the sofa at 66", but in 2000 it was 74"!
I don't know where the made the change to offset the 8" difference though.
Wardrobes-aren't they on either side of the queen bed? Or are they too small?
Our 92 2470 has a nice size wardrobe straight ahead of the single entry door. It's a nice size, but I don't see that on newer models.

Thanks Roy, we're planning a trip to at Disney world next year, but we hope to find what we're looking for before then (and you probably would want a quicker sale as well).

There was no counter space between the sink and stove in the older 2753. The newer one has the shorter sofa, and took that extra and it has 10" of counter space instead. Yes there are wardrobes beside the bed. They're the standard size. We just added the bar across the foot of the bed when we were going on a longer trip in late November and needed more space for bulky items like coats. They hung over our feet when we slept and didn't interfere. It worked great.

Hi, in 2005 Sunline made the countertop longer in the 2753 and put in the smaller sofa. Actually, the 2653 is longer then the 2753 in the later models starting in 2000 when they put in the queen size bed. I have owned both and now am on my second 2653. I like it better because the kitchen is by it's self and you don't have to get out of the way when someone wants through. I do wish it had a bedroom door like the 2753 and the bathroom is tight for dressing.

I never considered the 2653, thanks for all the comments on it. I see that the last year Sunline made that model was 2004 and that's not so old we wouldn't consider it. If it's well been maintained and had no water leaks, we might go a little older than that.
Bubba, our 2470 has the dinette and galley area in the center of the unit and we never mind passing each other there, although if the refrigerator door is open, your gonna have to wait!
You also mentioned that there's no bedroom door on the 2653, but I see one in the 2004 brochure.
I like the fact that it has a bathroom you don't walk through and a wardrobe across the hall. I don't care for the accordion door to the bedroom, but I can see that getting a real door if we found one and bought it.
Thanks,
Rich

Good luck on your search. My wife and I have a 2753 and she loves it. Ours is a 2003 that we bought last year-could not tell it had been used at all-and I have to think this floor plan is probably the best Sunline ever came up with. We have the limited counter space, which in reality isn't that much of a problem to deal with given the incredibly well thought out layout of the camper. Ample storage in the bedroom, love the wood door on the BR and the bathroom, nice pocket cabinets in the BR in addition to the hanging closets, very bright interior and ours was missing the "recliner" in the front, which the previous owner had taken out and installed a small bookshelf instead, which we use as a catchall and place our flat screen tv on top. The sliding table in the front is really quite clever and useful. I'd offer you ours but my wife would kill me. She just loves the floor plan and the upgraded cabinets are so very useful. I am always looking for the next best thing and recently looked at a 2006 30' Crossroads, but I gotta tell you the difference in quality was obvious without looking too hard. You will find your 2753 but it might take some looking.
By the way, I tow ours with a 2005 4 Runner Limited (V and it's an easy tow. You don't have to own a fire breathing beast to handle a 2753 as empty it's about 5000 pounds and is a breeze to haul.
Good luck and when you find yours, you will be a happy camper...........oohhh...that was so sappy!!

No problem, Rich. The 2753 is definitely worth waiting for. The layout makes so much sense it's almost scary and it's an easy tow. Good luck on your hunt!!

Thanks for everyone's help! We bought a gently used 2007 2499 and although we wanted the dinette, we figured we could get to like the sofa/table/swivel chair arrangement because we really like that big window at the back.

Congrats Rich!!
The 2653 remains my favorite to this day. I would have bought another a few years ago if I could have gotten a new one instead of the 286SR.
