Soon to be new owner of a 1997 / 1998 Sunline Solaris T-2053
Hi Everyone,
I just wanted to say hello and give thanks to all of the enthusiasts and owners here. I have been looking for a project RV for several months now and have decided on a T-2053. This site has been an invaluable resource in helping me decide on my travel trailer purchase. One of my reasons for choosing a Sunline over other RV's has been the wealth of information and community available here.
I will be picking her up in a couple days and I'm very excited. There will
be a lot of work ahead of me due to some water damage, but I think it will be worth it. I'll definitely be looking to this site for advice in the near future.
Thanks,
-Chris

Welcome to the SOC and congrats on your new-to-you 2053. We love pixs here so don't hesitate to post, especially as Kathy said, when you start working on it.

So I just got some bad news from the current owner. I was supposed to pickup tomorrow morning. But he went to plug in the TT to power to test lights and whatnot before moving and there was a small fire he quickly put out by the electrical panel.
He called me to let me know he wasn't comfortable letting it go right now until this problem is figured out. He mentioned something about a new panel possibly costing $700. He is actually an electrician by trade and is going to check out the problem in the AM and let me know yay or nay if he still wants to sell. He seemed to think it might just be a grounding issue and not too big of a deal.
Fingers crossed. Maybe it's not a huge issue and I can get another discount.
Here are some pics:

Hi SendChris,
Welcome to the SOC. I hope your new to you T-2053 has a chance to make its new home with you. Hopefully the electrical problem can be repaired without too much trouble and expense. Again, welcome and good luck!

A tragedy has occurred. I contacted the owner this morning and he said that the board was fried and he didn't feel comfortable selling the TT anymore. I told him I would provide a contract releasing him from any liability and it would be an as is sale. He declined and said a scrapper was on his way and would not change his mind.
I was really upset by this. I would rather at least someone got to purchase and restore it.
Too bad. I'll be looking for another project or possibly at buying new / newerish.

He was originally asking $700. I was going to get it for $400. The scrapper got it for $375.
Go Figure.

I asked him for their info or if he would ask the scrapper if he wanted to sell it to me and I never heard back.
Pitty.

Where was he located? (Plates look like NJ) If you really want that unit "Google scrap yards" in his vicinity and call each one!

Bummer, an entire new good power convertor is less than $200
4000 Series Compact Power Center
If you can find the junk yard, hopefully that do not declare it a totaled title. Makes it harder to get back back to being registered depending local BMV regulations. Still doable possibly, just a few more hoops to jump
