Thermostat Replacement...

I've read a bunch of stuff, even really past the point of remembering it now.

Our '94 2670 A/C works great but the thermostat temp swings so much that at night I wake up hot till the air comes on and about half wake up again because then it gets too cold. We leave the fan on low all night long to help try and keep some of the air moving around.

I've got a digital 'programmable' Honeywell for cheap and thought I'd look at replacing the Duotherm.

Not bothered with it having the high setting switch like some research I read just wondering if it possible or worth messing with trying to swap it over?

Here's a few pictures I took and the couple 'letters' that aren't matching up.

Thanks for any guidance, help or just say 'Go Kayaking instead...'

...or if anyone knows a brand and model number that I can search for that would make the swap much easier I can definitely go that route too. Thanks

In the Files area there should be a full write up on using a Hunter digital thermostat in place of the DuoTherm.

FWIW, the Hunter conversion instructions should apply to the Honeywell.

this is how I did mine. Hope it helps. You may be able to modify the Honeywell the same way.

I think I'm 'safe' switching over the W - Y - G wires

but one of the two red's is a power right? and I won't need it?

There's an RC on the new Honeywell, but no RH....

and is the H 'blue wire' for the high fan switch, I can tape it off.

Thanks for anymore closer instruction, Greg

Can't say for certain but you may want to use the blue instead of green to get the higher fan speed. Try both ways to see fan speeds.

You won't need red as tstat has its own power source. Batteries
