I really doubt you could. It's a baked on finish. If anything, you'd remove spots of the paint in the valleys before you'd take off the Krystal Kote.

I believe Sunline Fan is correct. The coating is bonded right to the aluminum. If fact I do not think there is any paint under it. The krystal kote is the finish and it is white at the same time.
I know if you rub acetone on the krystal coat, soon there will be silver appearing... So you can get it off but you will have to start over again with paint.

Ed, I have fiberglass, so what do I know??... except from a previous post... I think your "shiny white paint" is bare aluminum and the spots are just small enough that you can't readily see that, but you are seeing a color difference and it can only be white paint/aluminum.

Sounds like you might have had black streaks/dirt that got cleaned off and revealed the clean paint/Krystal Kote. The Krystal Kote does shine when really clean.
Could you post/e-mail me a picture of the area?

Ed,
For what it's worth mine is doing the same thing. It only is happing on the front upper part of the camper on mine. I don't know what to do with it so I just left it alone for now. I was thinking of taking to a paint shop and see if they could get all of what ever is coming off off. If not just have them paint the upper part over. Well good luck
Allan

Hi Allan
Ahhhhh good to hear someone understands what I am talking about, this one is the same thing top front. What does yours look like under where this material is comming off, mine is nice shinny white. If I could get all this off it would look better than it did originally.I put gas on a rag and rubbed some spots it took a lot off but not all of it, it seemes to get gummy. I used a product called Korkay to clean the black marks on the whole trailer which worked well. This only happend in the front so I don't want to blame that yet. May I ask where you are at in Fl. We are leaving for North Fort Myers at the end of Jan. for two months. Ed

Mine looks like nice white paint or something. I just bought my sunline and was cleaning it up. My decal is gone and thats where it looked like it started coming off. My friend owns a body shop so I will just let him handel it for me. Maybe try buffing it off. It does not look that bad, you have to get up close to it and look to realy see it. I live on the east coast of florida near Cocoa Beach.

Wow
I was cleaning up the Sunline the other day and realized I have the same problem. Its happening only on the front top section, it looks like the crystal coat is blistering and peeling back. I cleaned the roof in September and I wonder if the chemicals damaged the coating?

Hi HILLER64
What do you use on your roof, I use a rubber roof cleaner made by Thetford bought at a RV dealer they tell me it's all they use. I know this runs down the back and I am sure it gets on the sides, I do wash the whole camper with car wash when I am done with the top. Is yours nice and shinny white under this material that is coming off. Do you have an idea what to do about it. Thanks for writing. Ed

Hi Ed
The preoduct I used was a cleaner from Dicor. Like you I washed every thing offwell when I was completed. The paint underneath is white and shinny Not sure how long it will stay that way with out the Crystal Kote but for now its good. I guess you could say that I am still surrveying my options about what to do I was thinking of trying to use car wax and see if that swill at least provide a protective barrier on the places where the coating has worn off.

I was thinking I would like to try to get it all off the front then wax that nice white,I put gas on a rag and rubbed it and it took it off but not completely don't want to use something that will hurt the finish underneath. Others on here said that it's not the krystal kote that's coming off because that is baked on...Ed

Hiller,
H'mm Ed's, yours and my TT should all be made with the same siding.
Any chance you can get a pic of what you are seeing? Ed does not have access to posting a pic.
Reason I bring this up is, only on my top front of the TT aluminum skin I seen what appears to be a very thin almost clear film coming up. I can wash it off.
I do not know if what I have is what Ed and you have. I "assumed" what I was seeing is the breakdown of 303 UV protectent over 3 to 4 months that I do use on the rubber roof. The front top area gets an over spray of the 303 many times.
However now that I read more on this, maybe it is not the 303 and I have something else going on.
On the roof all I clean with is Tide laundry soap. Sunline has in their manual to use laundry soap so I have been. I have Dicor roof cleaner which costs a lot more but does not seem to clean any better then the Tide so I stayed with the Tide.
On camper walls I have been using diluted Awesome and Mr Clean Magic eraser and it takes the film of what ever I have up there off. I did buy some Kokray RV and awning cleaner that Ed suggested last year but it just came and have not used it up there yet.
Just trying to compare notes. If the weather cooperates well enough this week I will see if I can capture mine in a pic and post. It may or may not be the same thing you are seeing.
John

I'll try to get some pics today

Ed and Hiller64
I was out camping last weekend and took some pics of what ever is going on, on the top front of the camper.
Is this what you are seeing? This is hard in the bright light to take pics of something white... but I have enough to show what I have.
Do not mind the dirt, when I clean this I can clean out most of the black area and they turn to small dots of something left. I originally thought this was 303 UV protectant overspray from the roof, but now I'm having 2nd thoughts. This pattern seems to comes back in about 3 months ish from a cleaning. And by them I'm cleaning it again anyway. This only occurs on the top front 2 foot or so of the TT.
An attempt at a close up
So does your look like this? When I clean this it does come white except those fine specs of something left. The metal is not shinny smooth like the painted aluminum on the TT side pin strip area. It is just white at this stage on mine.
John
