Lynn, mine didn't come with an AC adapter - just the 12v DC power supply. Wired it straight to the hot side of a 12v DC ceiling light fixture. Crank-up upgrades might be different, don't know.

I've looked at two youtube vids on this and find it rather confusing. The question of having any AC involved defeats boondocking tv watching. The need of a inverter or generator would be needed to supply the AC......?????

AC was not needed in my installation. Only 12v DC from the battery. If you have a 12v TV, you're all set. The AC adapter would be used if you were going to install it for home use.

I having a problem with my Wineguard Sensar batwing and thought of replacing it completely with the Jack antenna. However I am somewhat confused by 12v tv? Do you mean TV that plugs into the RV outlet? Right now I use my little Samsung I had at home

Sorry. I meant that AC isn't needed for the antenna itself. Your TV will plug into the same outlet. The Jack antenna power supply is powered from 12v in your TT.

You can buy parts for Wineguard's the new heads come with the add on antenna elements for the new TV frequencies. It would be a direct replacement not a complete install for around $50 or a Jack direct fit for about $20 more that will fit your Wineguard hardware.

You have a switch for the Wineguard that has to be on in order for it to work it usually is located in a fixture the has a lighter outlet in it. It should have a power light that will light when the antenna is powered. All of the RV antenna heads are powered by 12 volts DC. There is an amplifier inside of the antenna head that needs power to work.

yes however that is not the problem I am having.
When I am putting the antenna down. It feels like there is something wrong with the spring/cranking Mechanism and the antenna is not in the right fold down position on the roof. It hangs over the side of the roof
I have tried it several different times and the best down position I can attain is it hanging over the roof about 4-5 inches in front
I am concerned about pulling the trailer with the antenna not seated properly on the roof. I do want to come loose and damage my roof so I have to get it looked at and fixed before I move next month
I have seen two different add ons to my existing Wineguard
However both still require the antenna to be raised and lowered
The Jack would eliminate the need to crank it up and down
there by eliminating future problems with the spring or crank
So my thought was since there is some kind of problem with it not folding
down in the proper position on the roof it would be a good time to consider
a replacement since I will have to pay someone to at the very least come look at it. These mobile repairmen are not cheap :-O

Oh yes PPL Motorhome. They have a new location in New Braunfels, TX not far from where I am right now but unfortunately I do not think they sell parts there
just RVs and the parts superstore is in Houston
Thanks!

Joan - before you put the antenna down - did you turn the antenna "ring" inside the camper (the one you would turn to get better reception) to make sure the two arrows lined up?
I remember once I had turned the antenna for better reception and when Leo went to crank it down it acted like you are describing...
Just a thought!
But in the meantime here is the gear assembly:

I never noticed but apparently, "LOWERING ANTENNA TO TRAVEL POSITION"
Rotate antenna until pointer (I assume they mean arrow although they show no arrows even on the plate) on directional handle aligns with pointer on ceiling plate"
I never noticed an arrow on the crank handle? I am not in my trailer right now but in Austin so I can not look right now but going back to camp today.
Thank you!

Hi Joan, See if this helps
The rotation position indicator is not on the "crank up/down handle"
This is the best pic I had at the moment. Mounted flush to the cieling is a stationary plate. On the outside diameter of that plate is a molded in "V" extending from the plate. That "V" creates a home position mark so the antenna can lay flat to the roof.
Then there is a second plate directly under the stationary plate. It has scallops for your fingers to grip on and that round plate pulls down and is spring loaded back up. You pull down on that second plate and you can spin the antenna up on the roof almost 180 degrees in CW direction and then CCW from the home position. It will not go 360 all the way around so you have to go to the left, then to the right. Only rotate when the antenna is fully up.
Before letting the antenna down, you need to pull down on the second adjusting plate and rotate the plate until the molded in "V" pointer on the outside diameter matches up to the fixed one on the cieling. This puts the antenna rotation back to home position. Then let the antenna down.
By reading your replies, this sounds like your problem. The antenna on the roof is not aligned back to home position to allow it to lay flat on the roof.
Hope this helps and good luck
John

I got mine mail order from PPL Motorhome, and it didn't seem like it took very long. I see that Walmart will even get it for you - Site-to-Store. $118 from them and no shipping (Site-to-Store). That may be an option for you if you're going to be in one place for a few days.

Ohhhh who knew? So small raised "Vs" on the stationary and rotation plate How did I miss them? Geez they do not show that Wineguard diagram either
Thanks John and for all the replies!
You guys are great at bending over backwards to help. Greatly appreciated especially since I am traveling alone.

That is why I said trust me - it is very hard to see for vertically challenged people!!!
