Winter storage

Thanks for the reply Mack. When we shut off the faucet on the bathroom sink, the pump goes off, even though the faucets on the shower and the kitchen sink are open. Do you think we have a blockage somewhere in the line between the bathroom sink and shower/kitchen faucets?

A blockage is a possibility. Do you know if they work when hooked up to city water connection?

They did before they were disconnected a couple of weeks ago. We have the camper at a campground in the mountains here in western North Carolina and a friend went up there weekend before last and did a dry winterization for us when we had an unexpected cold snap and we were out-of-town. It got down in the teens last night up there and we had to run the furnace to warm up the bypass valve on the hot water heater.

My guess would be an ice plug in the line. It is possible that a little bit of water settled in a low spot and froze.

One thing I forgot about and with the cold this last winter some customers who winterize their trailer had broken lines or cracked city water hookups. When everything else is winterized, turn off the pump and relieve the water pressure by opening the hot and cold on one faucet. Go to the city water hookup and turn the strainer washer so the screen presses the back flow preventer in. Then turn the pump back on for a couple seconds. Then put the strainer washer in the right way.

Thanks for the tip, didn't think about this one! If weather permits, we might go out over Thanksgiving but we put the pink stuff in today b/c of the forecast for the coming week - lows in the teens!

Thanks for your help Mack. It did end up being an ice plug. I left the heat set at a low temperature Saturday night and went back up yesterday afternoon and it had thawed out. Everything worked fine and we were fortunate not to have any cracked lines.

You have to be very careful just draining or blowing out with air that you get everything out or you will get ice in a low spot. We got ours winter camping. Disconneted the city supply and used the(heated) fresh tank for bathroom breaks overnight. Hooked the city supply up in the morning ( above freezing) and pushed the plug that had formed in the inlet to the kitchen sink.
BTW-our waste tanks are heated too, factory option.
