Winter Camping tips??

I made the mistake of promising my 10 year old son that we would take our little Sunny out one more time before we winterize. It's already plenty chilly here in new England. Any tips on cold weather camping? Nothing extreme, just the weekend at a local place with hookups, but I'm sure there's going to be something I won't think of because this is out first non-summer trip. We will be spending more time than usual actually IN the camper...besides extra blankets and skip the bug spray, what do I need to know?

Depending on what the temps are going to be, make usre you have the tank heaters turned on if its going to be below freezing

The floor usually stays pretty cold, so make sure you have some nice, warm slippers to hang out in.

Cindy put a piece of the shiny silver stuff that you wrap a hot water heater with between our matress and the wood on the platform and it helps to keep the bed warmer.

If you're going to have full hook-ups, bring a small space heater so you dont burn through all your propane trying to keep the camper warm.

Make sure you crack a vent when cooking to help keep the condinsation from forming on the windows

It's easier to sleep with some fleece pants, socks and a warm shirt on than it is to allow the heater to run all night long

Dont leave the space heater or anything else burning while going away from the camper and remember to have lots of fun.

If you're planning on spending more time in the camper than out hiking, make sure you bring some movies, books or board games to keep you occupied for the length of the weekend

Good tip on the slippers...I wouldn't have thought of those...no tank heater to worry about....and the stove vent on a 1983 T1550 is basically a hole on the wall with a screen over the outside and a screen over the fan, so I don't think venting will be a problem.

Make sure you have a space heater that will shut off when tipped over. We have one that even when its on high you can hold you hand directly on it. Oh I almost forgot a electric blanket or warming throw can also help warm up the bed before you go to sleep. Hot drinks are a must as well.

The camper's heater is like a blast furnace in such a small trailer and had no troubles warming everything right up to 70 degrees, then we swithced to the portable electric to keep the chill out while we slept. No troubles at all, and the only thing I had to change was the setting on the fridge...to keep the beer from freezing!
