Hi All,

Wondering what is the proper time frame for all things to do with wheel maintenance? 2005 T-1950

How often should be bearing be repacked? I believe I had mine done about three years ago

Lubed?

What about brakes and brake pads? Never have done any replacement here

I assume that it might have to do with how much the camper is used.

I have been full time for going on four years and have driven quite a few miles. Michigan to Tucson...Tucson to Utah....Tucson to SW Colorado...Tucson to Washington...Michigan to Tucson

Well you get the picture

And speaking of pictures...A few from the trail in the Olympic Peninsula in Washington

I just replaced all of the bearings on my 04 T-2199. They all likely didn't need to be replaced, but I found evidence of heat damage on two of them and since they didn't (in my opinion) have an adequate amount of grease and the grease was very old and black, I opted to replace all of them. I suspect they hadn't been packed in at least 7 years as that was the date code on the PO's tires.
In my case the break shoes and drums looked and worked good so I didn't bother with changing them.
From what I have read, it's not a bad idea to repack the bearings annually, but others may have other documented intervals.
The one thing I wish I could have figured out is what axle my trailer had before starting the job. If I could have figured that out ahead of time, I could have purchased the bearing and seal kits at a much better price point.

Here are a few pics of my work.

Great pictures thanks. So since I do not have the expertise to do this can I take my camper in to a regular auto maintenance shop that does this work?
In others words, I don't need to take it in to a RV repair shop?

When I had them repacked, 3 years ago I was In Michigan and took it to an RV repair shop I knew however I won't be back in Michigan until Spring of 2018

Time was when everything had tapered bearings any more they are sealed and there is no service. Any outfit that works on trailers though should be able to help you.

Agreed, any trailer place. Cargo trailers, horse trailers, RVs, etc. They will have the parts on hand and likely know how to do it. Many modern cars don't have drum brakes so it may be a bit foreign to them. Not that they won't know how to do it, but they probably won't be as efficient as a trailer place, and then they will probably have to go buy all the seals and stuff vs. having them in stock.

The seals and bearings are no problem as long as you know the size. If you measure the spindle diameter the bearings will follow if you measure the seal step the seal will follow. The smaller axles are generally 1" many NAPA stores will have the full kits if you know the spindle diameter.
