Hi Folks,
Well, I am sure many of you have noticed my lack of posting in the past few months, and now it is time for me to explain.
On June 1, I was diagnosed with a severe kidney infection, and put on a medication called "Levaquin", the very next day I was having "severe" reactions to that med, but the doctors said I needed to finish it in order to get rid of the infection, so I did. The side effects have continued for months.
IF you can avoid this medication, I strongly advise you to do so, it has some serious side effects.I was able to pull myself together enough to attend the Sunline rally, but I was unable to be myself and enjoy the rally as much as I usually do. I often resorted to riding around in a golf cart.
Once home I continued to not feel well, doing any daily chores were a real struggle.
Finally August 29th, Gary came home from work and I was so sick, and could not breath well at all. I finally agreed to go to the ER, we arrived
around 6pm, finally got seen around 11, and things just went nuts from there, all kinds of testing, IV's for this, that and the other thing, had to have a CAT scan, more tests. Finally, around 5am the doc comes in and says " Well, I have good news and bad news". The good news is we're gonna send you home, the bad news is there are lumps on your liver.
Two days later (I think), we're sitting in an oncologists office to hear what he has to say.
The reason I am having trouble breathing is because my liver is swollen and pushing up into my lungs, therefore limiting my breathing capacity. My liver has dark spots/lumps on it according to the CAT scan, so now I had to have a liver biopsy (NOT a fun thing to have to have done).
Oncologist called and had me go in for another CAT scan last tuesday, this time of my lower abdomen.
Finally saw doc last friday for all the results, lower abdomen is fine, but I have some type of liver cancer.
SO, Gary and I are dealing with the decision of what course of action I want to take. I have lost 38 pounds since June 1st, because almost all food tastes like crap to me or would make me gag so I couldn't eat.
I have not been able to work since September 1st., I haven't driven due to my weakness, and I'm probably driving Gary nuts.
I am not a person that is accustom to depending on people to help me with my basic daily lifestyle, but Gary has been a Saint. I am also very, VERY TIRED of not being able to do anything except basically sit and watch TV. If I could breath better, I think I could do a bit more.
Gary or I will keep everyone updated as we know/decide more.
Sorry this got so long, and I hope no-one minds that I made this post.
