Well, after repairing the rotten wood around the rear window in our T-1550, re-doing the interior paneling on the back wall (came out great!), flushing the water system, getting the hot water tank running, tonight I put sway control on the tongue and ball mount for the truck. Last weekend I put a rear view camera in my pickup, tried that out tonight to hook up and get the sway control hooked up to the truck. That worked great too, but the test will come on the trip to Maine this coming weekend.

Put the battery on yesterday so it would be ready to come out in two weeks. Since my dad just swapped out the tongue jacks last weekend, I wanted to make sure the new one worked. Got nothing when I turned the switch on, no jack and no utility light. Grrr. I disconnected the battery in case I was doing something wrong and said I'd come back to it.

Came back today, reconnected, turned the switch on, and it works just like it should, like nothing happened.

Looks like I can squeak a sixth year out of the battery after all. Took it off the tender yesterday and while I didn't load test it, it has a solid 12.5v.

The jacks that were swapped were mine and the one from my dad's car trailer. Mine was from a previous one of mine which the previous owner of it left out in the weather. My dad's was actually on our first Sunline, and always covered when not in use. Then it got moved to his car hauler (always garaged) when we sold the Sunline, and he agreed to trade me. They are identical jacks, just that one matches the condition of the trailer now.

I you can, you should check the cells with a hydrometer, too - or some other kind of specific gravity checker. (I use an optical refractometer for batteries and coolant both.) If any one of your cells is markedly lower than the rest (+/- 10 isn't too bad), you should be prepared to replace it. Doesn't matter if it's Winter or Summer. A bad cell will take you down any time.

Yup. I did check it with a hydrometer last fall and it was altogether weak after a long charge, plus one cell was a little weaker than the others (but not much). So I was figuring I'd need to replace it, but I might just be ok yet. I'm not going boondocking, so as long as it can keep the refrigerator going for a couple hours and work the jack, I'm good.

Over the last couple of days, I've been giving our T-1350 new stripes. Got the sides and back done. Now just need to do the front.

The old decals were in pretty bad shape, and were generally stuck on like paint. Parts of them were missing, much of them were badly cracked, and generally not very attractive overall. Sanded 'em down to remove loose edges and to smooth out their presence, and sprayed over them. Needed to spruce her up a bit, but didn't have the money to have a professional job done.

Going to replace all the clearance/marker lights after I finish striping the front end.

Doing this gave me a good excuse to open the awning to check it out. Other than being wet and needing a cleaning, it's in pretty good shape. Glad I got to dry it out today.

A few months ago, I cleaned the front window rockguard with Clorox Clean-up (the Dollar General knock-off) and Magic Erasers and was pleased with the results and intended on doing it again. Well, today while we were cleaning the 2363 - in anticipation of Buttonwood - I had Matthew take the rockguard off and I cleaned it with the Tilex and scrub brush (and a nylon scrubbie) as recommended by Janalee in post #159 of this thread. Wow, were we impressed with the results. While, b/c of the yellowing, the rockguard will never look new, it looks much better with no black marks at all. (There's a pix below.) Taking the rockguard off and being able to work on it while it was flat made cleaning it much easier. We're very pleased - thanks Janalee!

Boy, looks great!

I wish I had one of those fold-out awnings. We have the old fashioned one with the separate telescoping poles. The poles are 30 years old (like our T-1550) and are not great. Can't seem to find replacements, and those fold out awnings like you have would cost as much to put on our trailer as we paid for the whole trailer!

Thanks, Frank. Our awning was on it when we bought the Sunny. It's the Faulkner UltraMax 10'. Wish we could use it more. Wind can be problematic here on the high plains. :-O

Yes, I know about wind on the high plains, having lived in Rawlins Wyoming for many years. All the local jokes were about the wind. We were just east of a basin in the continental divide. It was called the Red Desert for a good reason - that red dust blew east and got into everything!

Just completed installing a Hengs Vortex II three speed fan in the main living space of my T1550. Actually creates a breeze through the windows, with a 12 volt motor. Going to go boondocking this weekend, I'll let everyone know how battery thrifty it is.

Yeah, well, when we sell our T-1550, the next one is NOT going to be a project, trust me. Oh, maybe projects I want to do, but none I do NOT want to do. Been there, done that, need to buy something newer, move on!

This T-1550 is going to be a sweet deal for somebody in a year or so...

Getting my Sunline 1850 ready for a weekend of Colorado camping. Vallecito Lake near Durango (where I live). It's been really sweet getting to know my sunny. I had her in a campground in Bluff, Utah from March till last week, to learn all about her systems and "foibles". Now I know how the gas/electric frig works, how to use shore power or dry camp, and this past weekend we flushed the winter out of her and ran the water. Only one glitch, a slight leak in the toilet. Dry camping this weekend.
