Wells, Maine

Please give a report. We love Wells and hope to camp there at some point. Stayed at motels often in the past as it is a favorite destination for us.

We are also going to Wells, Maine for a week this summer staying at the Wells Beach Resort. Decided on this campground since I am in a walking boot for a fractured ankle and need a paved site so I don't fall. Will let you know what it's like.

We just got home from 2 nights at Wells Beach Resort which followed 7 nights at Bar Harbor Campground. I think it was our 8th year.

If you want ice cream in Wells go to Scoop Deck. They have more flavors than you can imagine (75, I think) and it is good ice cream. There are some shady places to sit in the grass area next to the building.

Everybody has to have at least ONE meal at the Maine Diner. The lobster pie is pricy $$$ but WOW, what a meal. The seafood chowder is fantastic, all seafood, a little broth and I think one small piece of potato.

Another place we tried this year was Jake's at the corner of Bourne Rd and Rt 1. It is a clam shack place with indoor or outdoor seating. Welcome to Jake's Seafood ( Wells - Ogunquit - Moody Maine )

Enjoy the trip.

Thanks, Gene. We plan on trying both restaurants. I'm sure the trip will be great. Maine has much to offer.

1st night at the Campground in Wells. As I was setting up a gentleman across the road and came up and said he saw my license plates and asked where I was from. I told him, and he told me he lives 5 minutes from me. I travel 5 hours to be across someone from home. :)

Wells sounds like a great place to vsit in Maine. And after our 100 degree + days here in Virgina it sounds particluarly inviting. The Wells Beach Resort looks very nice but a bit pricey but you do get what you pay for.

We go up to Arcadia every few years and stay at a camp ground called Smugglers Cove in South East harbor. Its nice and very quite. Wells sounds like a great place to camp on the way to Arcadia.

We were walking on Wells beach one late October evening. It was very warm and balmy that year. Tom was looking down the beach and I asked what he was looking at. He (with good eyes) spotted our next door neighbors from back in Vermont, also on a stroll!! We did not even know they were in Maine! Seems we'd all dined at the same small restaurant an hr. earlier and missed seeing each other there. We had a long chat with them. Small world !

Where are you from in Vermont. We use to live in Brattleboro.

Wells Beach Resort Campground is one of the cleanest we have seen. The staff are friendly, the grounds are immaculate, the heated pool is delightful, and the restaurants are great. Maine Diner is super as is the Bull and Claw. The beaches are terrific and Ongonquit is delightful. Highly recommend this campground.

My wife Lisa and I are heading to the Seaview campground June 16 th, going to be great. It's a great spot.
We have also stayed at the Wells camping Resort, that is also a great spot.
Some great eating spots include the Maine dinner, Congdon restuarant, as
well as good stores to get food for cooking at the campsite. ;)
Don't know much about the hotels? We get a better deal with camping!
Your going to enjoy Wells, we've been taking our Sunline there for years.
Enjoy the area

If you like quiet Wild Duck camp ground Scarborough. It is adult only (over 21) right on the Scarborough marsh exceptionally clean the only drawback is the sites are fairly small. All hookup including cable.
