Last Tuesday morning (3am) I awoke with pressure on my chest, pain like I've never felt pain before, numbness in my left arm radiating into my neck & jaw.......guess what was happening???? Unfortunately I have been suffering from coronary artery disease since 2004, with now 6 heart caths, numerous stints and balloon angioplasties......and with the symptons I was presenting with, I knew I was headed to the hospital!!!! Leo called for the ambulance and off I went.....I spent time in the ER and then swooped off to the cath lab. Two arteries (left descending arteries a/k/a/ the "widow makers") blocked at 95% and 65% - Docs decided not to try anymore stints, since obviously the ones I have are not working.....and did the balloon angioplasty - they are hoping to get a few years out of the procedure - then it is bypass surgery......I'm not pleased with the outcome but my feet are on this side of the dirt
I just had a nuclear stress test in April with no negative findings, so this attack came as a complete surprise! I am getting about 1 year of non-symptomatic issues and then I just "block up"....Doc said my blockages are "quick" to come and the least little or abnormal pain I need to get to the hospital right away, especially since we live an hour away from the hospital!
I'm feeling much better (physically & mentally) and I'm writing to tell everyone to "listen" to your body....if you "think" something is wrong, don't second guess yourself - get to a doctor! The life you save may be your own!!!!!!
