Hi Everyone!

Leo & I had dinner with Kitty & Gary on Monday night and she said she needed to get to the doctor on Wednesday....well "Sunline Family" Dave & MaryAnn (?) came to the rescue and brought Kitty to the doctor. Her pulmonologist was not happy with what he saw & heard so Kitty was admitted to the hospital this afternoon...Gary called and asked that I let everyone know what was going on! Sorry I don't have more details other than they will be doing more tests on her!

Keep Kitty in your prayers....more to follow!

Kitty got to her doctor's office this afternoon, to try and get a prescription for oxygen. The oxygen saturation in her blood was pretty low, so the doctor investigated further. He ordered an EKG and did not like what he saw. He immediately wrote orders and had her admitted to the coronary care unit.

She got another CT scan this evening and we'll find out the results tomorrow morning.

Prayers coming your way from Central Ohio.

God speed to a quick recovery to Kitty.

Take care

John and Cindy

Sending our good thoughts and prayers for Kitty for a full recovery. Also, sending good thoughts to you Gary. Try not to let the stress overwhelm you.

Keeping Kitty in my prayers, she will hang tough I suspect and come back to better days soon enough...lets pray for that!

Hang in there Kitty and Gary. And know that we're all praying for you.

Kitty has been moved from the cardiac care unit, to the oncology floor. She is in room 203 now. She now sounds and looks much better. She will probably have to stay, until at least Wednesday. They plan on installing an IV access port in her chest, on Tuesday.

Gary, what hospital is Kitty at? We are glad to hear she has improved enough to be moved from cardiac care. We are still thinking of and praying for both of you.

Gary, many thoughts and best wishes for you and Kitty. Hope all goes well.

She is in City Hospital, which is in Martinsburg, WV.

She loses her breath pretty quickly while talking, but if anyone wants to give her a quick call, I know she would love it. Please PM me, if you want her number..

We have been away for the past several days and had been thinking about how Kitty was doing. Thank you for the updates. We are continuing to send good thoughts Kitty's way as well as keeping her in our thoughts and prayers.

What a day!

Kitty went to surgery at 10am and had the IV port implanted in her chest, She was back in her room, by 1pm and VERY sore! She took a while, to come out of the anesthesia and then it was time for a chemotherapy treatment. To "Access" the port, a 1.5" needle is inserted through her skin and into the port. They were supposed to have accessed the port while she was still out, but there was some unnecessary confusion and they did not do it. When it was time for the chemo, the nurse had to find where the port had been implanted. The first nurse pushed and probed around, but was unable to find it. All the pushing and probing was extremely painful and had Kitty in tears. The second nurse also tried finding the probe and could not... More pain and tears... Finally, the third nurse probed for it... Kitty was almost coming up and off the bed, by that time.. The nurse did find it, just before Kitty would have passed out. Keep in mind, that the port is located a quarter of an inch below the 4" incision that was used to implant the port and is a VERY sore area!

The third nurse then inserted the 1.5" needle and we got started with the chemo.. The whole chemo process took several hours and several different bags of IV fluids. They probably pumped almost a gallon of fluids into her. Once the chemo was done, they brought her first solid food meal in a week's time. One of the side effects of the chemo, is nausea and vomiting. Needless to say, dinner didn't last long.

I got her all cleaned up and let her rest for a while.. She was pooped. When she felt ready, I got her dressed and packed up the rest of her things. She rested a while longer and we got her in the wheel chair. By this time, she was more than ready to go home...

Getting her into the dually, wasn't easy. The trip home was uneventful, until we got to our bumpy driveway.. Each bump made everything wiggle and it was very painful for her. Our driveway is 1/4 mile long and it was the longest part of the trip. Once I parked and got the dogs locked in the bedroom, it took four of us to get her in the house. We got her to bed and I tucked her in. She's now sleeping semi-comfortably in her own bed!

Gary, glad to hear she is home.....how often does she have to have chemo? I know that they actually kept a friend in for the first month (pancreatic cancer) so he would not have to climb 3 flight of stairs to his NYC apartment (just love those old building with no elevators), because it was so hard for him to do and they wanted to make sure he would have the treatments.

We will be away this weekend at an EMS conference, but will give Kitty a call early next week....maybe she will be a bit stronger by then and enjoy a call.

Please let her know that we are still praying and wishing her well wishes.

Could you PM me with a mailing address????

Hugs & Kisses to all!

Gary

Thanks for the update. WOW.....

Kitty, hang in there and rest easy now. Prayers still head your way.

Get better soon

John and Cindy
