Unused thread archive?

Folks.....

Looking through some of the forum areas, it's noticable that there are some threads which appear to have been uncommented upon (unread?) for 2 years or more.

Would there be any advantage to have an archive area (organized by forum subject) to which apparently unused or obsolete information can automatically be committed after a durationally-triggered period?
