To replace camper lights with LED lights

I am Bill Livesay, Roswell, GA We have a Solaris T-2363
I wish to look into replacing my camper lights with LED lights. How can I do this?

There are replacement LED bulbs that will fit your existing fixtures so you would need to remove a bulb and find out what type they are so the replacements would match the bulb socket. I could guess and say they were 1156 bulbs but you really would need to know for sure. The power savings are huge with all the old lamps on in my T1700 t took 23 amps to run them 3.5 amps with the LED's!

There are 2 approaches. Some replace the entire light with an led and others replace just the bulb - both in and out.

Inside I bought paddle shaped leds bulbs to put in the existing lights. On the exterior, there is a good argument made to replace the whole thing, but I didn’t do that on mine. On my 2006, I replaced the original lenses (bargeman 68 style) because several were cracked and put front emitting leds in them. This was fast and easy and required no wiring since the new lenses fir on the old bases. I have had 100% success with this approach and not a single problem after 50k miles and several years. If lamp mounts were corroded or degraded just replacing the whole thing would be better.

All of my LED lamps are flush mount, you can buy a flush mount fixture that use a G4 type bulb and use that base for an LED on 12 volts. I did not like the cheap camper fixtures and was in the process of redoing the entire interior of the camper and way. You can buy LED's to replace the lamp in the stock fixtures that obviously is the cheapest and quickest method. If you dry camp it is worth every penny you spend for the LED's.

I found your great responses after asking the question again. Last Fall, I discovered a major rotting problem in our trailer and that is fixed now. Back to the lights now.

Hi Bill,

What year is your T2363? And are you looking for inside lighting or outside DOT (stop, turn,clearance) lighting.

If it is most likely a mid 90's to 2007 Sunline, the inside lights were 921 incandescent wedge base bulbs in most cases.

My 2004 camper has them like this on the inside. There are various types pending where they are used.

Here is a link to some of newer ones where I bought mine. We got the warm white (3000 kelvin) They are a lot cheaper and brighter now then we we bought ours many years ago. (now 11 years) I can state the quality from these folks is good and I yet have to replace one.
