Hi,
Tabs, h'mm. This is where a picture helps, as some folks call the tab, the plastic lock button tab on the lower awning arm you press to lock/unlock the arm from the upper rafter. These are on all Dometic Sunchaser awnings.
Then again, aftermarket tabs slide into the open awning tube slot to hang trinkets, often called awning hooks. These awning hooks did not come with the camper from Sunline but have been added by owners.
Here are two styles, there are lots of brands of these.

If you are talking about the awning hooks, etc., similar to what I linked, you can hang "very lightweight" things from them. A lightweight set of lights is OK, think of a string of Christmas lights. I would not suggest hanging potted plants from them as the added weight pulls on the mounting bolts at the roof line on the camper. Yes, I have seen this. Also, to prevent potential damage to the awning fabric, any metal hooks should be removed before rolling up the awning. Depending on the brand & style, even with no metal hooks, it may be better to slide them out before rolling up the awning.
I hope this helps,
John
