T-2499 questions

Since we have a 2499 on order, but not here just yet, I wonder about a couple things. Specifically the front end passthru storage compartment. Are you 2499 owners able to take advantage of this storage area as well as you'd like without adversely affecting your tongue weight? If indeed it is a balancing act for you then how do you handle it? Thanks!

Hi Bob!

We store a lot of lighter weight stuff up front, like our folding chairs, two small tables, lynx levelers, vacuum cleaner, broom, mat for under the awning... you get the picture. I am sure it adds up but there is no problem utilizing the space with this kind of stuff.

When is your trailer due in? I bet y'all are getting excited!!

Hi Bob,
I have an Onan 3.6LP gen on the drivers side of the Sunny, and I have 4 under the bed plastic storage containers (with wheels that I bought at Dollar General). These bins contain lego levelers, 18volt cordless drill with 2 batteries, a tool box, a battery charger, an air compresser, awning mat, small fold up table, plus other assorted stuff that I "might" need. I don't have a lot of links under pressure on the dual cam, but then I do have a hefty truck.

Hi Cat,
I believe we have a minimum of 5 more weeks to wait for our Sunny. I've kept busy with related activities. I put in a Prodigy brake controller Sunday(easy job) and I've bought a few items like chocks and levelors. What sort of vehicle do you tow yours with?

Great to hear from you again. Your truck is so heavyduty that you could load anything you wanted into Sunny and never have a problem. But I have been in touch with John Barca from the RV net site, and he has a 2499 also, and he's explained how very close to maxing out his TV tongue weight before he started being much more careful about loading the trailer. He uses a 3/4ton Suburban as a TV and that's fairly close to my 3/4 ton Pickup so I've become curious about what other owners may be doing regards to loading habits. I appreciate the replys.

Bob we have a '04 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 with the factory tow package and we added "overload" adjustable shocks on the rear. As equipped and with our Reese dual cam hitch she towed our T2499 just fine, we added the shocks for the stuff we carry in the bed more than anything.

Five more weeks?! :shock: I bet you are looking forward to it coming in! Are you going to be able to use it before the weather gets too cold where you are? I don't know what part of the country you are in.... but I know we would be itching to use it right away!

I don't know what most people do, but folks I know store bulky but not necessarily heavy items in pass-through storage spaces. In other words you're likely to run out of room before you weigh the the hitch down too much. Even so, we're fairly careful to even out the weight from side to side. We've run our unit with the storage compartment loaded and unloaded and I've not noticed any difference is towing quality.

Unless you're going to haul bricks in the compartment, you'll be alright as long as your load is evenly distributed.

Five more weeks?! :shock: I bet you are looking forward to it coming in! Are you going to be able to use it before the weather gets too cold where you are? I don't know what part of the country you are in.... but I know we would be itching to use it right away!

I live in CT. and by the time our trailer gets here it will be about when many New England CG's close for the season. I'm not inclined to rush a first camping trip in on short notice. I will let it air out over the winter months and stock it slowly and get to know it with maybe a campout in the driveway..that would be fun I think. My goal is to get the hitch set up correctly and then park it, winterize it and dream about next years camping season.

Hello Bob,
You should not have the nasty smelling out-gasing with your Sunline, They just don't smell!! I picked up my 2499 on a wednesday and left for a 4 day weekend on thursday, and no smell. I don't recall ever smelling that nasty odor in any Sunline.

I hope the time goes by quickly while your waiting for your new baby.

I'm taking mine to a 3 day gun shoot this weekend, and another gun shoot next weekend.

The aluminum roof is an option Sunline "WILL" do, but they don't advertise it! I just asked if they would still install one for me. I've had rubber roofs, and don't want another unless there is absolutely no way to avoid it. Well, guess I have avoided it with another wonderful aluminum roof, as I plan to have this Sunny for many years. I bought it after my 33 year marriage abruptly ended, so I was able to choose & do as I wished with options. I did have quite a few talks with "myself" about options, and sure hope I did everything right. So far no complaints, but I did replace the swivel rocker with a faux suede glider rocker with footstool. Will test that out this weekend at the gun shoot, after a long day toten guns, I'll sure be ready for a nice comfy chair. I have several options on my sunline that are not advertised, I just asked if they would/could do them. Didn't get a "no" to any of them.

I sent you a PM, before reading this.

I also replaced my swivel rocker, in my camper. I put a "Lazy Boy", wall away recliner in mine. When down south in the winter with my camper.
I see many newer, and nicer campers come and go. I often wonder if their owners are as comfortable in their campers, as I'am in my Lazy Boy.
I hope they are.
