We used to own a '94 2770 but sold it and moved on to a huge 34' Keystone with a slide and 2 bedrooms. IT was VERY nice and comfortable when set up at a spot but towing it was a pain and backing it in even worse at times. Also, while the worksmanship seemed decent and all the appliances worked perfect, there was an issue with the way the slide was built that allowed moisture to seep up under the edges and there really wasn't alot you could do about it.

So, the wife switched jobs to work the VA center down in BayPines which was great for her but it also meant she would be driving 130 miles a day. We traded the beast of a trailer in on a Prius. I missed the trailer but I didn't miss the dread of having to tow it. It towed stable enough but it was such a pain when in city traffic.

We knew we had to have some sort of RV and ruled out going with a Pop-up again. We saved up a modest amount of cash and went looking. So many trailers with issues! The common problem was people not thinking to seal the running lights and windows. We saw a '99 Sunline 2753 that was advertised rather cheap but it had dryrot under both bedroom windows and the roof was peeling apart. It didn't look like anyone did anything maintenance wise since it was brand new. We looked at alot of non-sunline trailers and even some motorhomes. There was a 25' 1995 sunline that came up down in Ft Lauderdale but I figured it was a little too small for us and too far to rive after getting burned on many trailers that "Had nothing wrong with them".

So anyway, I only rattle on and on about the search to illustrate that it is tough looking for a TT on a modest budget. This morning, we had just gotten home from looking at a class A that had dry rot under EVERY window and the wife wanted to go look at used lots in the area. Before leaving, I pulled up CL on a whim and posted not 20 min prior was a 2002 2753 in our budget and reported well maintained. I called and the guy that answered was the mobile RV repair guy that took care of the trailer when the owners were up in Canada for the summer. He said they didn't come down this year and asked him if he could sell it for them. Man, I told him I was on my way with cash in hand.

Needless to say, we bought it as it was in great condition. The exterior needs a little cleaning but that's all. I went out and lowered our hitch to "Sunline Level" and put the air compressor in the truck bed for the tires. It still has the original factory option electric jack so.... hope that still works.

Man, I'm excited. We can fit at Alexander Springs state park again. Our gas milage should go up 2mpg again. I can get up to speed on the on ramps again. I can scrape on slight inclines into gas stations again.... I can feel like our truck is overkill again. We have well built cabinetry again.

Anyhow. Just happy to have a reasonably sized sunline again. I'll put some pictures up after I bring it home and get it cleaned up and outfitted.

Cool story :) when we're done full timing (if we ever start) I doubt we'll be towing the 32' monster around. We loved our 2753. Looking forward to pictures!

You know Cathy, if your not happy with your SOB, Maybe I can talk terry into trading our Sunline for your SOB.

Oh we're happy so far.....but I guess Sunline will always be in my blood! :D Somehow I don't think Leo would go for a trade!!!!!:p

Rats, well you can't blame me for trying. There is Sunline 5th wheel for sale about 80 miles west of me, Stopped and looked at it, very nice, but wanted too much money. I think it had two slides.

I know of one at Wilkins in Rochester area....EMD Driver owned it!

OK, here are some pictures. I had to use Photo Bucket because my picture qouta here is taken up with our old camper. I wish I had some pictures of the outside before I spent a few hours and alot of elbow grease cleaning it up. It had sat for 8 months and they were doing construction in the park right behind it.

I didn't touch the inside. It was still cleaned up from whenever the previous owners had cleaned and left for Canada. All appliances did turn out to work perfcetly after I cleaned a huge mud-wasp nest out of the hot water heater flame tube.

Unfortunatel, somehow we all managed to miss this issue when we bought it:

Oops....

Luckly, the soft area is still pretty much just around the toilet and a little foreward. The fluur under the cabinet still feels solid. I will take the toilet up after work and probably start cutting into the bad wood. I'm not sure what to expect as far as framing underneath. I know the black tank is directly under the bathroom of course and spans pretty much the whole thing so I am hoping to find enough bracing to either lay right over or tie into by only excavating within the open bathroom floor area. I'm sure the wood right under that fouled linoleum will probably cruble right away and gie me some room to get my arm in there and feel around. The good thing is, we had been tossing around the idea of replacing the flooring and this will certainly get that project jump started.

Anyhow, I'm going to look through the maintenance area here as I know there were some other floor projects documented. I'll take pictures of my work as I go incase I come across anything that could be helpfull to others. I will probably use Glycol and "Penetrating Epoxy" for suspect wood that I cannot easily replace such as under the cabinetry.

I do have to say that I like this floorplan. It seems very liveable for two people with a good living room area for a non-slide model. The bathroom is just about the right size too with enough room to get dressed after a shower without becoming a contortionist. The storage is a little lacking for when we take the whole family but not too bad. The kids will just have to share our wardrobes in the bedroom.

That looks great!!!! Floor doesn't look all that bad and hopefully a quick fix. Maybe needs more road time to double check everything. ;)

Yup, floor is not that bad at all and I'm lucky that it is still pretty localized to the toilet area. I looked at the Thread EMD_Driver has where he had to replace half of his camper's floor and it looks like the floor supports are pretty close together. That's great news.

I do have to pack the bearings. One hub was a bit hotter than the rest after towing it home. The brakes need attention. It sat for at least 2 years so no suprises there. I still haven't gone up on the roof yet. Some of the seals on the lights need attention. Suprisingly (to me at least) that little factory electric tongue jack worked like a champ.

One thing I am kinda concerned about is the Mid kitchen layout with the HUGE storage area under the bed i nthe rear of the camper. There really aren't any other storage compartments big enough to put the large items like chairs, firepit etc in. I can't think but that it would cause alot of possible stability issues as people loaded up the oversized storage at the very rear of the trailer. All you can really do to weigh down the front is fil the fresh water tank. Well, that and put some dumbells in the living room area when traveling.

Yeah, it looks pretty sharp. All the vinal striping looks good but wouldn't you know it, all of the sunline decals are gone.
