Hi W & D,

Congrats on your new Sunny! :)

H'mm, the model year (not year of manufacturing) you are showing and the VIN do not match. The 10th digit from the left (starting with 1LC) is the model year. And X in that 10th digit = 1999. You show a '3' in that location, which corresponds to the model year 2003. There are also other issues with that VIN, as the 9th digit does not check out correctly. Please go to the camper and check the VIN for any incorrect digits.

There is a way to confirm the VIN within that date range. Assuming it is between 1999 and 2003, if it is really a much older camper, some of the below items, other than item 3, may not line up. You can go to the camper, and the VIN is listed in four places.

1. On the front left side (driver's side) of the camper wall, approximately halfway up, is a VIN tag displaying the year of manufacture and the vehicle identification number (VIN). The VIN and that 10th digit will confirm the model date, which may be a year older than the manufacture date, as the model year rolls over mid-year. Exp. A 2003 model year could have been produced from 2002 to mid-2003. However, the VIN tag, unless it was protected from the sun, may not be readable; therefore, proceed to the following method.

2. Inside the camper, most of the time, on the inside of an upper cabinet door (in the kitchen, bathroom, or bedroom, depending on the floor plan), is a weight sticker. The VIN and model number show up on the weight sticker.

3. At the main entry door (some floor plans have two doors), look down at the floor of the door frame. There is a threshold plate inside the camper, held down by 3 to 4 screws. Remove the screws and lift the plate; a VIN tag is attached to the floor.

4. If the original owner's manual is still with the camper, there is a Sunline build sheet and a Quality control sheet that lists the VIN.

The Title of the prior owner should also have the VIN. However, titles have had errors in the past. Please start with the camper and determine its VIN, then compare it. We can help better after you see what's what with the camper.

I hope this helps.

John

PS. If the camper has not been repainted over the decals or siding, if you can post pictures of every side of the camper, we can attempt to determine its year and model, as Sunline modified its siding color, windows, and decals over time. And if the camper outing was painted, we can still help, just maybe not as accurately.
