Shower leak

Just found this forum. Found it from a link that somebody had posted in RV.Net. Thanks.
My question has to do with a leaking shower stall. I would like to try to fix it myself rather than take it back to the factory. Initially, the leak was coming out one corner (front). I re-caulked around the two sides adjacent to that corner and that took care of most of it. After using it some more, it continued to leak. I then caulked along the bottom edge of the shower door and up the corner where the shower door slides into the squeegee mechanism. This took care of most of the rest of it. However, the last trip out my wife noticed more small drips resulting in a bit of a puddle on the floor. The drips come from the bottom edge of the shower door at the front corner. I don't want to caulk just the outside edge of the bottom of the door and trap that water inside. Any suggestions? Trailer is a '07 2055.

Your trailer is an '07, so why not take it to your dealer and let them locate and fix the leak. I don't think it is something that you need to return it to the factory to fix. I'd call your dealer and make arrangements for them to check it out.

Glad to have you here! I can understand wanting to fix stuff yourself to save a trip and potentially a several day wait for them to get to it, but Kitty is right...your unit is new and you've given it a easonable effort sounds like. I think the dealer needs to get involved with water leakage issues. Just my opinion though, If your situation makes a dealer visit very difficult then have at it. Keep us posted too so we will have this repair info as part of our reference material. Good luck!

I too just found this site from a fellow bud on RV.net

My dealer is 5 hours drive away and I knew when I bought my trailer if anything was wrong I would have to deal with it. If it was really major, well then I haul it.... So far never hauled it.

I do not know how far you are but try this.

Contact Sunline direct. Give them your VIN number and tell them your problem. Can even email them. Pictures really help explain the problems. LaRue will help herself or direct you to the right person within the company. They will take the time to help you and it if is warranty they have various ways to help.

1. Haul it to the dealer.
2. Haul it to the factroy.
3. Send you the parts.

Depends on the extent of the item and if you have the means/want to do the correction.

Bottom line: They will help and care about you, the customer.

As far as your leak, mine does not so I can't help much here. I did caulk around the bottom of mine where the long side panels mate to the tub basin when I got it and before using it. I just could not figure out why they did not seal it up as they did seal around the shower screen vertical molding.

I also had this problem. Try using silicone caulk back in the corner, inside the bottom track.

one of the first things I did when I got our camper home when it was new was cleaned out the silicone used by the factory around the shower curtain frame and recaulked it with a white urethane caulk.I did along the bottom and all the way up the sides inside and out.I seen this area as being a potential problem down the road.mine did not have silicone all the way up the sides just about a foot up.my shower does not leak at all plus the urethane caulk helped to stiffen the track up and now the curtain slides better. WATER LEAKS ARE MY BIGGEST FEAR

This is for Rich2500. Could you tell me why you use urethane caulk and not silicone caulk. I have a T2553. I checked my shower and you are correct. My shower is only caulked on the inside and just on the bottom, not up the sides. I would like to recaulk mine but just wanted to know why urethane.

I use urethane based caulk because it adheres much better then silicone,urethane caulk is the only caulk I use on anything.I have gone around my entire camper and removed all the putty that is used to seal doors, windows etc. and then caulked everything with urethane caulk and everything looks just like the day I caulked it no cracking or anything.

Is this urethane caulk a common Home Depot/Lowes item or? Any particular brand or just whatever? Thanks for the tip too.

any urethane or polyurethane would work, the brand I use is PL polyurethane, door,window and siding sealant from Home Depot
