Hi, I have a 1986 T-1550 and I need to replace the shower floor. The shower floor measures 23" x 23". Would anybody know where I could purchase a replacement for it? Also, how difficult of a project would this be and perhaps some tips on installing it correctly. Thanks in advance! Chris

shower floor

Are you sure you have to REPLACE it? Ours was cracked in two places and we had a commercial repair facility come and repair it..but you can probably do it yourself..he braced the floor from underneath and then applied several coats of epoxy repair material and smoothed it out..looked almost new. Told us to let it cure a few days before using it and to leave the braces there..he used wood and styrofoam underneath for the support. The repair process itself seemed easy--the time spent to access the underneath and brace it was the hardest part...

This post made me wonder about something. I'm in the process of replacing the walls in my shower area and found removal of the ABS shower unit made it easier to do the job. Glued to the bottom of the ABS was a 1/2" piece of styrofoam. The entire unit was resting on a 1/2" piece of waferboard. I'm wondering why they used styrofoam instead of just setting it on top of solid wood? Does the styrofoam provide insulation? I can't imagine that it would be neccessary to have a soft floor, anyone have any ideas on this?
Thanks,
Rich

I don't know why they would put styrofoam under the floor. All I know is that I feel like I'm going to go through the floor when I step in there. I think the styrofoam was used mainly because it's waterproof (yet the wood floor below it isn't) and because it's lightweight.

The '86 1550 doesn't have a full shower enclosure though. It just has a pan with a ~4" lip coming up, and this also doubles as the floor for the bathroom. Still, it may have been installed using the same techniques.

Have you tried Lowes or Home Depot? I know that they have shower bases (floor) that measure 23 x 23....owned 9 cottages on the water and had to replace shower floors in a few of them and bought the 23 x 23 which worked perfectly.
