I just bought a 1988 Saturn. There is no data plate. I am thinking it is a T1550. Do I measure the box to get the correct model? Does the vin tell anything? Thanks

Yeah, the VIN stickers on Sunlines from about 1976-88 didn't weather well. It used to be on the left corner, on the siding, you can probably still see a shadow from it.

You do have a T-1550 though. No doubt from the window patterns and rough length, it was a popular model. The VIN will confirm the length, which really narrows down the possible floorplans.

Thank you. I wasn't sure. Where is the Vin located on these? I have a 1972 Lark for Vintage Camper events. It doesn't have a bathroom so this one will be nice for places where I need to be self contained.

I saw pictures of these and the tail lights have a clear lens in the upper middle of the cover. Do these have backup lights?

Yes, some of the older Sunlines had the back up lights. Unfortunately they stopped adding that a long time ago. I do not know what model year they did the change.

Thanks... I thought maybe I was crazy. There is a red wire in the harness. I figured it does have backup. The bases are still there. Just missing lenses. I picked the camper up today. I will put bulbs in it to see if everything still works.

Luckily there are some other locations besides that former sticker. The easiest place is on the left side of the tongue, just behind the coupler. It's on a small aluminum tag, which wasn't painted over originally, but someone may have when repainting the tongue since. It's maybe 3" long and riveted on, near the propane tanks.

If for some reason it's missing from there, it's also under the door sill. Open the entry door, remove the screws holding down the sill plate, and lift it up- a tag just like the tongue tag will be screwed to the floor there.

Did you not get a title with the trailer? Hopefully these locations will help you find the VIN so you can start the process to obtain one.

My '97 is also my vintage rally trailer, even though it isn't quite vintage yet. I don't really have it equipped for cooking since meals are supplied.

Best as I can tell, it was 1983 through 1992 model years. 1993 brought the new Peterson 457 light, which was used through 1996. They went to the Bargman # 92 series in 1997, which was used through the end.

I'm not sure if the backup light was an option early on. I know the deluxe tail lights were an option, which were totally different.

My 1990 T1700 has backup lights many modern factory TV trailer connectors have backup wiring but it was for boat trailers with surge brakes more so than reverse lights. Frankly I'm not real sure how much good they are other than letting people behind you know you are backing up.

In a family campground type environment, with kids riding all over on bikes, I could see it being a big benefit.

Well mine are not exactly bright and they can't be seen too well from the TV but I guess they are better than nothing, I had a camera on my Toyota motor home that had infrared led's that gave me a pretty good B&W image of what was back there. I think if I really needed to know I would buy a wireless camera for the camper or a backup alarm.

I can see where they would help if backing into a spot at night. Ground guides would like them... lol
