Removing sofa from 2002 Solaris T2670

I need to remove the jackknife sofa. I saw a really great thread about someone removing from a different trailer. They had great pictures. The more I read and the more pictures I looked at I realized I have the jackknife with two long bars. I think I still remove the bolts from the seat portion. I think after that I'll be able to get to the frame. I won't be putting this back in. Is there any use to this for someone else? I don't have anyplace to save it. I didn't know if there is someone who collects these parts or not. Any advice for removing this sofa/bed would be greatly appreciated.

I do not need the sofa, but this may help on how to remove it.

To remove the sofa, you start with the bottom cushion first. Pivot up the bottom and look for the 4 nuts that hold the bottom cushion to the frame.

They look like this. I'm assuming yours looks the same. If I recall right, a 9/16" wrench or socket fits them. Have a helper hold the cushion as you take the last 2 nuts off.

The frame will then look like this and expose 4 screws or lags that hold the bottom metal frame to the wood structure. Take those 4 screws out and out the sofa back cushion and frame comes.

We have several threads with pics of folks taking out the sofa for fixing something or just getting ride of it. And some showing the wall damage from yanking screws out that where from the outside in. While many of these threads are from slide campers, they may have some useful info.

Thank you so much! I had looked at only two of those posts. Thank you for referencing the others. I'm still learning how to use this site. It's the first "forum" type of site I've ever taken part in. I'll talk and ask more about that later but back to the sofa... It looks so easy in the pictures to lift that front portion of the seat to "just remove the four nuts and bolts". Mine is very difficult to lift at all. My son held it up as much as he could to allow me to look under it. I will try again tomorrow. Thank you so much for this info!

Jackknife Couch

This removal is a piece of cake. I did mine last year and it took me about 10 minutes. Don't take the whole frame out, just the 4 bolts that hold the cushion on the frame. We had it reupholstered for under $200. A whole lot less than a new one ( if you can even find one).

So this sofa removal is because it wasn't comfortable to us either as sofa or as a bed. We decided we want to use this area as both of those things. I can't find a picture exactly of what I want but I think if I explain it and include some pictures that are part of my inspiration, you will be able to visualize what I'm thinking. I'm picturing a board with a foam piece on it tgat can be used for both sitting and sleeping. Because I have bad knees I always need to prop my feet up. I am picturing storage boxes that slide from underneath for me to prop my feet on. This is a short space to sleep so I'll be the one sleeping here also.

I was really tickled! I love Craigslist. That's where I found my Sunny. I sold several things within hours of posting. Could have sold freezer several times. I gave piano away. I was afraid that wouldn't move at all but I had tow people who wanted it and I told them first come, first given. Two people came for freezer at same time. They were both really nice about it but the one who didn't get it bought a bunch of my Pyrex. I had a lot of large rectangular baking dishes. Those can't go in camper! I've got a LOT more to get rid of. Work on Sunny continues. Daddy found a really soft spot in the floor below the lower bunk. He thinks gasket seal around the lower window may have caused a leak.

If he thinks the window is the issue, he can unscrew the inner ring inside and take a look and see if it is or is not. Yes, you take out all those screws on the inside and the inner ring comes out. It will look like this.

Take all valance off

Take all window frame screws in side out. Have someone hold the window outside to it does not fall out

Then use a flash light and look inside the widow wood frame for water soaked wood.

If all the wood is good and dry and or no dried water strains from an old leak, this points to it may not be the window. Then put the ring back on and you do not have to pull the window out and reseal it.

If you have a window frame seal leak, here is how to fix that. Basically you pull the window unit out completely. Scrape off the old putty tape and put new butyl sealing tape on, center the window and put the screws back in.

If it is not the window, it might be comeing from the roof seam. Is the water only on the wall side of the floor? How big a spot is it? Any pics? The floor ends up with where water came from above. Anything above.

We did a similar sofa mod to our 2753, although no storage baskets since under sofa was an outdoor storage compartment. We ordered a custom memory foam mattress with cover from Page Foam Products in PA. Their prices were very reasonable. It was a really nice replacement for the Jack knife sofa.
