Portable Waste Container - Use One?

I have seen people wheeling those portable waste containers but I wondering if anyone here uses one? Pros/Cons?

Suggestion for a brand/model if satisfied?

My T-1950 has 25 gallon grey and 25 gallon black and I am thinking that I could certainly extend my stay in a camp without full hook ups if these units is workable

Very popular in my area during the Fryeburg fair many people stay for the entire week and there are no sewer hook ups. A lot of the people use them to avoid the expense of having their tanks pumped they just wheel them to the dump station saw on guy towing his with the pickup little plastic wheels and all!

Just used mine this week. Inlet on tank may be higher than outlet on trailer. That can be overcome using 12v pump. I only use mine for gray water. Look for my water tank mod on my Barker portable.

I, as well as 80% of the campers at our campground in Ri, use these tanks. It beats the **** out of having to break everything down to go to the dumping station. It sounds gross but, really it's not a big deal to dump your holding tank with one of these portable units. Make sure you get a large one. Makes it so much easier and, for the most part they aren't that expensive. Hope this helps.

To large one gets to heavy to handle empty. to lift in an out of truck. My 25 gal is large enough but cumbersome to handle loading and unloading. I've never had the need to empty black tank only gray

I don't lift mine in or out of the truck. I hook it over the hitch on my truck. Makes it real easy.

I can see those poor little wheels turning very rapidly....staying up for a little while, but just not able. It would be horrible!

That sounds like something the Griswold's (Chevy Chase) would do! "VACATION"! ;-)

I have been using a 22 gal one since 98, because we do alot of state park camping and now camp host at pa state parks with no sewer hook up for a month at a time. They are road worthy at less than 20 mph. I found that out in south Carolina this winter when the state park we were in had 2 campgrounds 3 miles apart with the dump station not at the one we were at. Just make sure the cap is on tight. It is the one I got in 98.

Mine is a 35 gal model. The only problem that I've had is to make sure it's lower than your sewer pipe. Big chance for a spill ( and you don't even want to go there), if you don't have it lower than the trailer sewer pipe.

I have an 11 gallon one. I know it is small, we had it from the PU days and never had a need to get a bigger one yet.

I do daily choirs and taking out 11 gallons of gray water every 2 days is enough. Sometimes 11 gallons goes more than 2 days. I have to fill the fresh if we use a lot more. We can easily go 4 days on the gray tank until full, with showers and dishes. So taking 11 gallons out every 2 day works for us. I do not have to drain it dry, just keep ahead of the daily use.

Since our longest stay in one spot is 8 days, this is not a problem. Pending how long it is to the dump, I strap the handle to the tow ball and pull it or I can still lift it into the bed full. Much more than 11 gallons and I do not want to fiddle with it lifting it.

I fixed up a shorter sewer hose and a bayonet fitting so it dumps from the pipe into the tank and I have to vent the tank. There really is no mess if you are careful. Do not pull the handle wide open, I only bump it and see what is coming as mine having a longer dump pipe from the tank does not shut off real quick. I push the valve close and it keeps coming for a bit.

I also have done the black tank, again only taking 11 gallons out to hold up over several more days until we break camp. Same process as the gray, just go slow filling.

I am going to check into the one John has. Small and portable. I have seen people attach them to the back of their vehicle to put to the dump station.

I think its a good idea for extending a stay in a location that you like but that does not have full hook

Just clarifying one point I made in my post, when I said I can lift mine up into the truck bed, 11 gallons filled the tote weighs about 95#. That is all I want to lift and even then I wished it weighed half as much.... To tow it, no big deal, to lift it, pending who is doing the lifting, that may be a challenge. Heads up, I do not think full you may be able to load in the truck bed if you where planing too. Empty, no problem.

I will say this, the Tot-N-Stor brand has a different wheel then the Barker brand. The Tot-N-Stor has a thread pattern wheel and a more rubber like wheel that rolls well from the thread pattern and is so not so plastic like material. They make very little to no noise when whizzing down the road to the dump being towed.

The Barker brand has a really great tank system, just their wheels are more flat hard plastic. They roll obviously, but the noise they create is well, loud... Many people upgrade the Barker type to pneumatic tires and they roll even better then the Tot-N-Stor and make very little to no noise. They are then ready for the interstate...LOL

Just adding some more you help you make the right choice.
