Last season, with the way our water pump sounded, we figured it was on its way out being that it was 12 years old. This spring we bought a Shur-Flo 4088, a direct replacement for what we had, and Matthew installed it. At first, we thought that the new pump was much quieter and didn't cycle as much when in use, however, recently it seems as if the pump is much louder (sporadically) and cycles more, especially when the hot water is used. Any thoughts or ideas about what may be going on with it would be appreciated.

There is a screw located at the center of the pump head. Turn it clockwise a little at a time untill it stops it stops cycling. If you turn it to far the pump does not shut off so do it slowly.

Pumps are noisy unless they are well insulated. The range of pressure is very small and there is not much of air dampening. A small leak will make it cycle more often. I use a 2 gallon air pressure tank and that cuts the cycle time by a factor of about 10. They have small accumulator tanks that will double the cycle time. Drain your hot water tank and let the pump refill it that may help.
