WooHoo! Today was an exciting day as we traded our 2010 F150 for a 2013 F250 Super Duty diesel. It should tow the TT just fine as the tow rating is 14,000 pounds and the TT loaded is 6900 pounds.

We are really looking forward to the first tow with the new truck and none are planned until August this year due to work schedules. But I bet we find a weekend to get away before that. LOL

Congrats on your new truck. The Lariat trim is nice. What cab/bed combo did you get?

That torque monster will do well for you.

Happy camping and towing....

John

Congratulations,

That truck will tow 2 trailers!! Might be in the market for a new TV also. I think the new, not yet picked up, 2653 is going to max the 05 Tundra. Hope you new TV is good to you.

It's a crew cab with the 6.5 bed. This truck has so many features we will have fun learning about them. Of course it has the tow mirrows and they are power extending. It also has the snow plow prep which includes a heavy duty alternator and the tow package and a sun roof and Sony sound system and climate control and heated and cooled front seats. Ironically the most luxurious, feature laden vehicles we have owned are pickup trucks. LOL

Now we need to learn a new vehicle language: diesel. We are very familiar with diesel engines in boats so this should not be too much of an issue. The DEF fill is located next to the fuel fill. Now to buy some DEF and carry a container with us.

Our vacation trip is in August to Boone, NC, which is 4000 feet elevation. The new truck should hande the mountains easily.

We also signed up for Buttonwood for our first trip so now we will have to actually the drive the truck to get 500 plus miles on it before then. This is not a daily driver and is now living under the its cover in the driveway.

I guess you can tell we are very excited with this truck!

Diane,
You won't have to carry any DEF around with you. I believe it's got close to a 5 gallon tank. What I've been told, is that you fill the DEF as part of the normal oil change maintenance. I'm also not sure about oil change intervals. I've also read, where you simply wait for the truck's computer to tell you when it's time to change the oil. Evidently, the computer maintains the driving characteristics (Towing, heavy acceleration, idle time, etc...) and automatically calculates when an oil change is necessary.

As far as towing goes... The 6.7, with the 3.31 gear ratio tows a 13,200lb Sunny with no problems! I am anxious to see how you do with mileage too!

Since I now have a F250 with the 6.7 diesel, I have been doing quite a bit of learning.. If you need any help, please let me know..

Gary,

Thanks for the tips and you can be sure I will let you know the mileage. This sounds like a great discussion at Buttonwood.

What are you doing for a generator? The F 150 bed was much deeper than the F 250 and the Honda 3000i was carried in the bed of the F 150. Now the generator is too high to fit under the tonneau cover on the new truck. We may go for two Honda 2000i units that can be run together.
