I just purchased a 1987 Sunline Satelitte 22' 7". The trailer is in great shape for it's age. My familly and I can't wait to go camping. We live in CT and it's starting to get cold here, so it looks like we won't be able to go until spring. I have a few things I want to take care of on the camper before spring. The first thing is replace the original tires. The size is C78 14 load range B. I think the closest thing in metric is 185/75-14. Will other sizes fit okay? This size is hard to find. Does anyone know if good places to order tires online?

I've known people that have ordered their tires on-line from Tire Rack and they've been very happy with both the price and delivery time.

I'm not an expert on tires, but if you're planning on changing sizes, make sure the new size fits your rims and if the tire's diameter is larger, make sure you still have sufficient clearance between each tire and the wheel well.

Welcome to the club! You will find lots of friendly help and answers here.

If your rims are between 5.0" and 6.5" wide at the tire bead, the most common TT tire available these days is the ST205/75R14 Load Range C. (Goodyear's tire chart doesn't even list a Load Range B in this size any more.) They are all over the place at tire dealers and online.

Goodyear's chart was the easiest for me to find on the fly. There are several other manufacurers of ST (Special Trailer) tires. If you read back through Repairs & Maintenance, Towing and Tow Vehicles, Sunline Travel Trailers, and Sunline Community, you will find a number of threads on TT tires which should be very helpful to you.

Somewhere on here there was just a thread about that. Started off with the name "Mission Tires" I think.

There's a lot of debate about that, especially among owners of heavier trailers. Our friend eman (everymilesamemory.com) has some good justification for bias ply tires in a high mileage, rough terrain, heavier trailer environment.

Lots of folks with coaches like yours and mine (5,500# GWVR or less) have excellent experiences with radial tires, particularly when not in a high mileage situation.

Since radials are more the standard these day than bias ply tires, it may or may not be more expensive to switch to bias ply. I will be looking into that over the winter as I really need to replace at least 3 of my tires.
