Since we have so many members in the New England area, a few of us have been tossing around the idea of a Meet & Greet in 2013. Sunline member Mainah works at this campground in Maine (not far over the NH border) Woodland Acres Campground | On Maine's Saco River He might be able to get a discount for us after Labor Day.

The Fryeburg Fair starts early, so the last weekend of Sept. might not work for us. The Adirondack Meet and Greet is the weekend of the 21st/22nd and some of us attend that and perhaps some of those attendees would also like to come over to one in Maine. It's just a FYI - doesn't mean if the majority want that date it can't happen.

So please post if you'd might like to attend and the preferred date - Sept. 7-8, Sept. 14-15 or Sept. 21-22.

Thanks for letting me know about this Debbie! I'll talk to Gail and see what week might work for us. Sounds like a neat deal, and Gail is from a down east mainah family!

We've been kicking around the idea of going to Cape Breton next year after Labor Day, so that may put a crinkle in any Sunline meet 'n greets anywhere. We're just now planning 2013 vacations. First off, a cruise to the USVI (probably in April), then our regular trip to the Keuka Lake in the western Finger Lakes in mid July, and then maybe Cape Breton in the fall. 2014 for our 40th anniversary it's Scotland!

The weekend of the 21st is as soon as we can go. I am scheduled to teach prior to that and won't be able to get away.

If it was the 28th and 29th would that be a problem for the campground with the fair?

the weekend of the 7th & 8th would work out as it would give some turnaround time for the adirondack meet & greet weekend

Maybe Mainah will respond. And, since Sept. is busy (I just realized the Western NY M&G is ALSO in Sept. !!) would we ever want to do this in October... after the Fair? As the last hurrah of the camping season (for most of us?)

Mainah, thoughts on any of this?

The Faire ends on Columbus Day and that is when most campgrounds in the Northeast, including Woodland Acres, close.

Oh, rats, I thought it might be open for another weekend. I thought we'd have more interest in this. Maybe some New England members are not on this site due to the end of the camping season. Let's leave this thread up and see if we get any more activity. If not, maybe we can revisit the subject in the Spring. If September is busy for many people, we certainly could pick a summer weekend. I don't mind paying the regular price as this campground seems very reasonable, even without a discount.

Fall is a nice time to be in the Conway/Fryeburg/Brownfield area but the Fair does block out that last week before Columbus Day. I don't know if mid June is an option. We have often gone to Conway for a long weekend just after school gets out and the campground owners there said it doesn't fill up until 4th of July week.

DW is not a M&G type person but I am working on it. ....

The big problem is the canoe trade the river is packed and it's a huge boon for campgrounds all up and down the river it is not unusual for them to have 150 boats out (each camp ground!) and it's a zoo. I'll ask the owners thoughts on the week after the fair usually they have had about all they can take of a very intense season. I have a great deal more respect for camp ground owners after working for one it's hard work. The season before the canoe traffic is also a nice time that maybe some thing to think about.

And when is the season before the canoe traffic? As far as the week after the fair, from what I've seen, our Sunline groups seem to be pretty easy going and respectful of the campgrounds. Perhaps it would be an easy way for the campground owners to make some money and have a less chaotic end to the season?

Any weekend works for us, due to I will not know what Saturdays I have to work until late Aug.

I have the same question! C'mon mainah, clue us poor folks in!

Happy New Year all!

The canoe season starts to get in high gear after memorial day. There are usually a few that hang out after the fair that maybe a possibility all so I know they like to get cracking on the fall clean up after the fair but some have still been there a week beyond.

I'm glad to see we have more interest in this !! So... can we plan on the weekend after Columbus Day?

Like I said it does not matter to me I live a 1/2 mile away so what works for every one I'll do my best to put it in place even if it's after the seasons end.

OK, super !! Can you get us a section where we can be together? And maybe you could post the rate here?
How many members are interested in the weekend after Columbus Day for one last hurrah in Maine? We can start an official thread once we know we have enough members onboard to continue with this ! (and other members or their friends, even w/out a Sunline are welcome of course)

Debbie - funny you should post "w/out SUnline", Leo just asked if we would be welcome!!!!! :) :)

Kathy, funny YOU should say that as I almost did not add that to the post as it seemed silly to say. Because, of course, any members and their friends, are always welcome at the Meet and Greets!! It's about the comraderie, not the camping vehicle, but you two know that!!
Can't wait to check out your new rig at Nick's Lake.. or maybe before that somehow !

Debbie
