Need another head on this electrical problem

That peak is the place Barbara and I saw the earliest snowfall we'd ever seen-October. As soon as we dropped a little in altitude, it stopped. Also saw a couple of deer. Rte 30 goes over a big hill and right at the top as I recall is a biker bar (not like outaw bikers, just a place for anyone on a motorcycle, and there are many, many motorcycles out on 30 on any sunny day!)

LOL- Oh yes, PA Rte 30....

Didn't have the Sunny, but took the family to the Flight 93 Memorial on the 9th anniverary of 9-11. We came in from Somerset on the turnpike, not too bad on the hills. While we were there I asked one of the Rangers if there was a "better" way to go home...Somerset is a bit west of the memorial and required quite a bit of back tracking..."oh yes, take Route 30 back to Breezewood and pickup I70E" Sounded good, no backtracking involved.

Now, the vehicle didn't have any problems with the "hills", but mdfiregal has a little problem with equalizing the pressure in her ears (OK, it's a BIG problem).....I thought she was going to kill me before we got off of Rt.30 we actually had to stop for about two hours in Hancock, she was so sick and hurting.

Won't do that again.

Yes, if Ford, Dodge and GM wanted an east coast towing test track, SR 30 would be in the running...

That road must be real "sporting" in the winter

Nice pixs, John! My Dad taught me how to "save the brakes by downshifting" on Rte. 30 going over the mountains, think I was about 17 at the time. Mom was in the car and didn't exactly appreciate it but Dad said it was the perfect place to learn. Our F-150 has "Tow-Haul" and you don't know how much I appreciate that piece of technology!

(Actually, PennDOT does a good job keeping those hills decent during the winter, as long as you go over them AFTER the trucks have been through.)

Hi Matthew, So you learned engine braking on SR 30....

In my case it was not "down" that was the problem...

My F350 Torque shift tranny has grade braking when in Tow Haul mode, you press the brake pedal hard enough and in Tow Haul it will down shift it. Does your F150 now have that?

It was Lisa that learned downshifting on the mountains of Rte. 30.

On the F-150 when tow-haul is on, it automatically downshifts on a downgrade when the truck hits a certain speed, usually a little above 40 mph. It will downshift again when the brakes are applied. My Dad (& driving out West) taught me how to be pretty proficient at downshifting on downgrades but the first time driving down a "mountain" here in PA with tow-haul on, I kept saying to Matthew, "I love it! I love it!"

Didn't know Ford moved the grade braking feature into the smaller trucks. Great!!! A very good feature.
