Please say a prayer for my son's K-9 Officer/Partner, Sultan aka Sully. 11/19/10 11:37am, he is currently in surgery at vets, we are awaiting news. It is a 50/50 case, could be fixable with surgery or we will lose him.

Many of you know him as "Nasty Dog" as that is how I often refer to him when I have to babysit him.

As much as he scares me to death when I have to dog-sit for him, I don't want anything to happen to him.

Hope things turn out well for Sully.

I saw a K9 demonstration by the New Hampshire State Police a few years ago at an event I was at. The K9 was just a gentle as could be around all the children at the event. Then his handler sent him after the "Bad Guy" and wow, took the (well padded) "Bad Guy" right down. I have a lot of respect for the handlers and dogs and the training they go through.

Oh dear...:( Police dogs are amazing. My sister is married to a retired cop who kept his retired dog. He is the most awesome dog. I feel for your son. I'm sure he's attached to "Nasty Dog". Keep us posted.

Sully Update !

As of about 2:30pm this afternoon I received word that Nasty Dog was out of surgery. The vet removed a 10 pound splenic tumor. It is being sent away for biopsy. Nasty Dog was coming out of the surgery fine and would be kept overnight at the vets and barring any complications will be allowed to come home tomorrow. So, one hurdle down, one to go. Crossing fingers & sayin prayers.

Wow! Glad to hear he's doing better!

Kitty, Hope all comes out well. Dogie is a beautiful German Shepard and I'm sure smart as a whip.

We had a all black one growing up as a kid. I grew up with her since she was a pup. And she passed on from internal stomach bloat after about 8 to 9 years old. While we do not always think of it, these animals suffer from some of the same issues us humans have and even some worse.

Hope Sully recovers well.

YEAH, got the test results back on Nasty Dog's tumor, it WAS NOT cancer. He has went to work a couple of nights this week, BUT was restricted to being just a "passenger" in the durango, no other "work".

Now all my son will have to deal with is getting Nasty Dog accustom to being left home, as he is being retired due to being 8 years old. Son starts new training monday with a "possible" new dog. I say possible because it depends on whether the dog can go thru training and pass the tests.

Nasty Dog will remain with my son as his "personal" dog.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYONE,

Kitty

Glad things turned out well.

Gee if Nasty Dog stays home now all the time, I guess Sunny in the pit will have a full time watch dog?

Cancer is a nasty word, no matter if it is referring to a person, pet or in this case a working partner!!!

Glad the results came back negative!

Great news!! We had a standard poodle with a tumor on her spleen that was not cancer. So happy to hear this is the same for Nasty Dog. Hope he adapts to retirement.

We are glad to see the he will get well. I am sure he will adapt to life at home as a pet with out all the stress of work. He may change his whole deminor after everthing he went through.
