More 2009 Camping!

We are headed north in July 2009 to Crozet, Virginia (near Charlottesville) with our camping group from N. FLA. We'll be up there for a whole week, exploring the area.

We're staying at Misty Mountain Campground. I've read mixed reviews about the place, but one of our members pushed for this place, so we'll let you know what we find.

We'll be there from July 19th thru July 25th. If you're in the area, come on down and join us... we'd love to meet ya!

For those who enjoy BBQ, we're planning to head to Vienna, Georgia in November. The Big Pig Jig will be held this year November 6th & 7th at Vienna, which is about 10 miles north of Cordele on Interstate 75.

Georgia Veterans State Park is just outside Cordele and would make an ideal campground to stay at for the Big Pig Jig.

For those who prefer a full-hookup camping experience, there is a KOA Kampground in Cordele.

I have camped at Misty Mountain. It is right up the road from me. It is an adequate facility. Its best feature is its proximity to Charlottesville. If you ever head over to Staunton there is a great campground there, Walnut Hill.

The first time we stayed at Misty Mountain I was NOT impressed. However, we stayed there this past Christmas and WHAT a change!!! They hired new management who cleaned out all the run down permenant units, planted nice landscaping, put on a nice deck overlooking their field. It is MUCH improved. It went from a place that we would only stay at if it was the only thing open near C'ville to our choice of where to stay near C'ville. I think you'll be very happy there. I would say to choose a site that doesn't back up to rte. 250 because that is a noisy road. LOTS to do in the area. You could stay there a month and not run out of fun things to explore and wonderful little restaurants.
