Our undercounter radio-CD player was working fine while doing the spring cleaning of our SE QUE , now the display screen is blank and the unit is still working ( radio & CD player ) just don't know what radio channel or CD track its on. Its a Memorex model 4701, has any other QUE owners had this problem?

I wish, that rotten light keep me up at night!!!! I have never heard of it, maybe contact Memorex? I bet it is still under some type of warranty!

If it's not still under warranty..

If you shine a flashlight on the display, can you still (kind of) read it? I don't know about the Memorex unit you have, but many car stereos have LCD displays which are backlit by (one or more) small 12V bulbs. When the bulb(s) burn out, the display appears "blank".

If that is the case with yours, and you are handy with a soldering iron (or know someone who is), you can likely repair it. I've repaired quite a few car stereos with that issue by replacing the burnt out bulbs with "grain of wheat" 12V bulbs. These are available at radio shack as part # 272-1092 at Two for $1.79.

Thanks for all the info on our memorex radio, the blue light is too bright in ours also, the unit only came with a 90 day warranty, so no luck there and they no longer list it on their website. Frank, when I shine a flaslight into it it shines back NO numbers. Time to take it apart and see if I can find any bulbs to replace, if not its time to recycle it. Never liked that bright blue light anyway! Thanks.
