MaxxAir Vents

I am having MaxxAir Vents installed in my Sunny. Can't decide if I should do all three, two or only one vent(s). Any advice?

Am also having ex openbrackets installed.

Aside from the possible consideration of cost, I can think of no reason to do without all vents Maxair-covered (so long as - if you have a Fantastic Fan - you get the right size for that particular vent).

Just shielding an open vent from rain (and leaves, etc. from trees) has been a great help over the years. There are plenty of times that you may want a vent open if it's raining. For some reason, I have found that it is always the uncovered vent one wishes one could open!

A few years ago, we went for a short day trip on a bright sunny day and left the vent over our bed open. Well, that pop-up thunder shower centered itself on our campsite and drenched the bed which (of course) is right under the vent.

That did it, off to the RV store to buy a MaxxAir. My budget was tight that year so I only did the one over the bed. The year after, I drove by an RV shop with a spare $20 in my wallet and came home with another. Last spring I finished off the third one.

If your budget allows, do 'em all at once - you will never regret it.

Now to save my pennies for the vent fan upgrade....

I would do all three, that way if it's raining you can open as many vents as you would like.

Thanks everyone for the replies. I am going to go ahead and have all three installed. I thought that would be the way to go, but began second questioning my decision.

Heading out to Arizona in a few weeks. Can't wait to get on the road again......

I think Maxx Airs are appropriate on a non jaulosied windowed trailer. We have them on all motorhome vents, allowing the regular vents to be open wehen we're away. We don't have them on the trailer because we can leave the jaulose windows open and close the vents without 'rain worry'.

Another vote to do all 3.

To add to the reasons, the Maxx Air covers are made out of a lot better and stronger plastic. They are more UV resistant and gives a higher degree of protection to something coming thru the roof vent. The regular roof vents covers are not really that strong.

And, they also help from the sun fading things inside the camper. The ones that Sunline shipped in 2004 where not good. They had changed suppliers and the plastic and metal was not good. I got all new free ones on the T2499 but the T310 I had to buy. They since changed brands and should be better.

Another reason to have them would be hail damage. Our fantastic vent cover is the one with no MaxAir cover and the one that cracked in the latest hail storm. Even though I don't like the MaxAirs (kinda like seeing the sky out the vents) I have to admit they are useful.

I had been wanting to get some anyway, but I was cleaning out the camper yesterday and looked up only to see one of the regular vent covers was broken! Must have just happened, because I was looking at the roof last weekend and didn't notice it. Gald I saw it because it rained last night. It looked like a limp hit it. That plus the one I cracked last year when I was cleaning the roof, made me realize I need more protection!

We have all 3 vents covered with MaxxAir Covers and I honestly cant remember the last time they were closed.

Especially while driving, we leave the vents open to exhaust any foul smells that might come up from the tanks if the p-trap looses it's water

I recently installed one of the hinge systems on a vent I needed to clean out due to some small leaves finding their way in there. I plan on putting these hinges on all the covers eventually. Only takes a few minutes and makes opening the vents a snap.

I installed 1/2" foam weather strip on the bottom of the vent covers to keep small leaves and pine needles from blowing in under the covers. Got tired of cleaning them out.

We've got all three of our roof vents covered with MaxxAir covers. They were like that when we bought the coach.

I wish we'd had something like that on the popup. The only vent on the PU was filled with the A/C unit. Unless you ran the A/C, it could get stuffy in there sometimes.

While I am also getting the EZ open hinges, the bit of weather stripping idea is a great one!

Installed!

Got the vents installed this AM. Why didn't I get them sooner?! They totally rock!

On another note, I had a state inspection, too. It appears three of my brakes were disconnected at the wheel hub. Very suspisious since this was the same place that repacked my wheel bearings and checked the brake wear last Fall. I find it hard to believe they would have just checked the brake wear and not seen the wires hanging off the hubs.

Oh well, all in all, with all the traveling I am doing this year, I am thankful that I know the brakes are ok!

Heading to Arizonia and Utah in a couple weeks for a 5 week vacation in the wilds! Looking forward to it!
