My wife and I went and picked up our new old tt. Sunline t1740, I have so many questions I'm not sure where to start. I will have to make a list . We are so excited to have it , Cant wait till this next weekend

First one, I dont see any leveling jacks underneath trailer. Is it possible they are not needed on this small of a camper? Steve

I personally feel that jacks are necessary no matter the length of the coach. But, I suspect whoever bought your coach new felt that they didn't want to spend the money to put on the mounted scissor jacks, so they just used the crank up style that are a lot cheaper. I had this with my 1550, and it was a PIA. It's so nice to have the mounted jacks right there already and all you have to do is crank them down.

If you don't want to install four jacks, the next best is two in the rear. You can get away with this since the coach is under 20', though you will still have some bounce. This will just prevent the coach from jumping forward if you walked around behind the axles with no one up front.

Jacks are pretty much necessary, I think. We have a 15 footer and the thing wiggles around when I roll over in bed. Jack stabilize it wonderfully. I have held off, so far, on mounting scissor jacks (although it's on my wish list). I just use the four cheap aluminum pedestal jacks. They require more fiddling around than the scissor type, but they do the trick for now.

And hey, I can't sit still anyway, so I need something to fiddle with, even when I'm camping!

Enjoy the camper, we love ours and we just got it this spring.

Stabilizing jacks

I believe the jacks most of us have on our Sunlines are best referred to as stabilizing jacks unlike the true hydraulic leveling jacks found on motor homes. I use a piece of 2X12 to provide a solid base for the stabilizer. When the coach is as level as I can get it, I crank down the stabilizers on the low side first to lift it just a tad and then crank the opposite side about 1/4 to 1/2 turn max. beyond contact. I'm sure they will support more weight than that, but I find that provides a solid enough grounding for me.

I do like Henry says, just I use 3/4 pressure treated ply wood in place of the 2 x 12 as most of our camp sites are on black top.

As far as tight, on my T2499, that camper being smaller, it would crank well with only say 1/2 to 3/4 turn from all the play out. I do not try and lift the camper, only stabilize it. I find using the expanding wheel chocks between the duals and this stabilizing creates a tight trailer on the T2499.

On the longer/larger T310SR, the stabilizers do not do as well. The TT is just so much larger/heavier they are not going to take it all out. In fact mine back off. I crank it 3/4 turn and it slips back to about 1/4 turn.
