Hi all,

Hubby & I have just put a deposit on a '98 Solaris 21' TT. We live in Saratoga NY (home of thoroughbred racing). He is a retired policeman from that City. I am an artist and teach workshops in the Bridges program for adults with disabilities. We breed, raise and show Cavalier King Charles Spaniels (24 years in the breed). We look forward to travel and fellowship on this list.

Welcome Darlene and Hubby. We wish you as much fun with your Sunline as we have with ours.

Jan and I spent 6 months (Jan. to June) in Saratoga in 1967. I was in the Navy and was in training in the Big Black Ball there. We were newly weds then and use to go out to, I think it was Lake George, and rent a rowboat for an afternoon. We rented an upstairs apartment in a very old Victorian house while we were there. When we arrived, there was a lot of snow. We always parked behind the house in an alley. We didn't know until spring and the snow melted that there was a driveway in the front of the house. I remember it as a very quiet peaceful little New England like town.

We want to take a trip to New England, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island etc. late this summer and we may stop by Saratoga and Balston Spa just for old time sake. Is John's Bar still in Balston Spa? We will visit the Submarine base in New London as well.

Saratoga Springs & such

Good Morning,

You will find Saratoga much changed. Ballston Spa is growing, but still quaint, with a couple of nice eateries and some fun shops and art galleries.

Saratoga is not quaint any longer. Borders Books, Box Stores, high end restaurants, etc. etc. etc. Mind you, it is still fun to go there to eat, drink and shop, but it's not "charming".

How long do you plan on traveling?

We RVd in Nova Scotia last year and it was FANTASTIC! Would love to go again with more time to poke around.

Welcome, Darlene! We'll be neighbors in a month as we are moving to Northville, about 45-50 minutes west of you.

I am a retired 9-1-1 dispatcher (Rochester/Monroe County) so your hubby and I share some common background.

We'll be at Fish Creek Ponds from June 1 to 22 and again from August 7 to 17.

You might also check out the Adirondack Meet and Greet over in the M&G section. Old Forge is an easy ride for you.

Welcome to the club. We'll watch for you since we're close by in Schenectady. We'll be headed up to Battlegroung campsite in Lake George Soon.

Darlene & Hubby,

Welcome to the group. You have purchased a wonderful rig, and you sure will enjoy the memories you make with it. Gary & I got out camping last weekend, and it was so enjoyable, the company was excellent. We camped with JohnB & Cindy.

We love to see pictures, and also please check out the sticky about the Sunline Registry that Jon (Sunline Fan) maintains. I'm sure he would love to put your Sunline info in it too.

We're still planning, but to get from Missouri to NovaScotia and back and see the sights we need at least 3 weeks. This issue of the Good Sam magazine has an article of just this trip. Can you recommend campsites you used on your trip?

I see the D1G ball is still there, but they have dismantled the reactors. I could not go through that area and not stop to at least have a look at it for old time's sake.

For others, the D1G ball is a huge structure just west of Saratoga that housed a test and training reactor and was operated by Naval Reactors. I had my training there the first 6 months of 1967. Over the years, over 40,000 sailors received a portion of their nuclear power their training there. To say it was rigorous is an understatement.

Hi Darlene, welcome to the Sunline Owners Club.....let me remind you again about the Adirondack M&G (See forum topic for more info)..as someone already has.....that is only a hop, skip & jump for you to come on over to!

DH and I will be camping with OLD friends Memorial Day weekend over in Washington County it usually takes us 2 1/2 - 3 hours to make the trip - we go up over the mountain. We live in Old Forge so the trip is not bad at all.

Hope to see you at the M&G!

Welcome to the group. We are newbies, too.
We are in Clifton Park and have a 2006 T-1950--our second summer coming up. We are both retired teachers (I was an elementary Art teacher).
We are going to the big Buttonwood M&G in PA in June. We'll be in Bar Harbor and Acadia in late August at Blackwoods Campground. In between will be spontaneous.
I disagree--Saratoga IS charming still....

Good Morning all -
We're from Upstate NY as well, Colonie area. Just purchased our first Sunline, an older 88 Satellite. After a month or so or fixing, cleaning and testing, we are ready for our first weekend trip - just in time for the Memorial Day weekend.
Looking forward to meeting new folks on the road. If anyone knows of any great sites wooded and not so crowded for the holiday - please feel free to share.

My fiance and I are from Glenville, NY and also just bought our first Sunline, an 1986 Satelite and are looking foward to fixing it up! Nice to see there are so many sunline people in the area!

Welcome Patti

We where from the Hudson/Catskill area. Now moved west. If your looking for wooded, look at the Adirondacks or south to the Catskills. As far as un-crowded, well don’t know. Poppy and Nana can help report on the Adirondacks. The Catskills, h’mm we do have a member here from Redhook NY that may head that way.

Welcome to SOC and happy camping in your new camper.

Hi Darlene,
