Identifying number on older model Sunline

Need to obtain a title for an orphaned Sunline camper. Would like to restore. The number i can find is located on left side of hitch where youre supposed to look but its only 7 digits L323178. Is this on older version of a vin number?

The 1978 Sunline I used to have, had 258278 as it's VIN.. I would imagine that the number you found is indeed the VIN.

Thanks, you was right. DMV found it in computer. Last two digits is the year of manufacture evidently since this one is a 1978 model as well. Thanks again.
