We picked up our '82 T-1550 in Albany and towed it 220 miles to Hampton, NH using our 2004 Honda CRV.

It towed beautifully even without the anti-sway and electric brake controller we haven't installed yet.

Mileage dropped from a normal 26 to just above 20. We have a manual transmission. We're were in 5th gear 95% of the way.

We have it home now and are fixing it's minor problems and modifying it for our needs.

WOW...20 mpg towing is amazing. Those old 1550s are nice little units, and so light. We had a 1650 back in the '80s and never had sway control. I think we had the brake controller though. We towed it with our Chevy Celebrity, and it was great. Pardon my nostalgia...we had some good times with the kids in that little trailer :) Congratulations to you! I'm sure you'll get many years' use out of it.

We found that our fuel milage is highly dependent on wind conditions.

Our Jeep Liberty diesel towed the T-1950 up the Columbia Gorge getting around 15.5 MPG, with no headwinds. Coming back, there were 35 MPH headwinds. Our MPG dropped to 10. The first leg was 'up river' at 60-65 MPH, and the return was 'down river' at 50-55 MPH.
