I just read the post of davidsfj40 regarding his project of moving his tv flip up shelf and using it as a counter top extention. I would like to add a counter top extention just like that, unfortunately I do not have a tv shelf to work with, since my T1950 does not have that kind of shelf. Would anyone know of the source for that particular shelf, or at least where I could purchase the brackets so I could attach a piece of maple myself. I have had no luck finding either, so far. Thanks in advance for everyones help.
I have had my Sunline for a few months now and I think it is the best recreational investment I have ever made ! My wife and I love it, and the Sunline owners club, with all the experience and knowledge of its members, makes it all the more enjoyable.

Try a salvage yard to start...they were in most of the rv's--all types in fact. Otherwise,I would suggest you print out a picture of the type you are trying to build and take it to Lowe's or HD and show them your project--the brackets are also available in your parts catalogs although they would cost more there..once the label says "RV"....well, you :p know the rest...Janalee

I have not yet found the folding supports that Sunline uses. But will yet, my search continues.....

Here is one brand I ran across.

I'm going to do the same counter top table extenstion once I find the right brackets.

If and when I find, I'll post. I have a buddy in IL who did this and his looked just like the Sunline brackets. I'll contact him and report back.

John,

To put it lightly, those brackets S**K. The TV shelf in my 270 has those brackets and they were both broken when I got it. I was able to save them, but it wasn't easy. One end (the side on the bottom of the shelf for both) of the angled piece that folds came out of the metal mounting bracket. Both ends appear to be stamped in and the stamping just gave way (because it wasn't pressed enough). I was surprised they were salvagable because there wasn't much meat going through the hole, and that was like that from the factory!

Oh, now that it's fixed, they work fine, but when folding the shelf, the folding arms don't seem to fit together very well. The shelf will go up against the wall, but it likes to pop out some. That's not good when my shelf is down about knee height in front of the bed:

Thanks for the heads up. They did look pretty wimpy but it was all I could find so far. The Sunline ones I have in the T2499 are really rigid and have a good locking feature. I'll find em yet.

Hopefully it's not like the older fender skirts that were built by a local company and the factory burned down and then closed for good.

John and Denis:

This bracket looks identical to the ones in my '99 Sunline except that it is white. Mine are brown.

Surprisingly, I found other brackets that were rated higher in load capacity before I found this one.
And this one is a lot less expensive.

I did a google search on folding shelf brackets (no quotes).

Denis, I was lucky enough to have the TV shelf in the bedroom of the trailer, and just moved it to the
end of the stove area. It partly blocks the doorway, but is very workable.
I believe that the stove and doorway in your T-1950 is pretty much identical so the shelf should work well.

I did remove the stove, and installed several strips of 3/4"x4" wood running vertically from the floor
to the top of the cabinet to strengthen the luan wall for the bracket.
They are held in place by decorative oval head wood screws.

Once you have the brackets (see above post), you should have no trouble finding some stock
to fabricate a shelf from. You might even consider covering it with laminate to match
(or contrast with) your existing countertop. If I was fabricating a new shelf from scratch, I'd
probably find myself a scrap of butcherblock patterned kitchen countertop and go from there.

Hey Denis, you might want to check out Hardware Source which has an amazing selction of brackets.

www.hardwaresource.com

I know they have that original bracket you wanted, but they also have some that will fold down smaller and might be a little stronger.

Steve and Pat

Thank you both for those great links. The one Steve setn us to is the closeset to the Sunline table support. It is rated at 100# http://www.woodzone.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=111351&Category_Code=

The maga hindge site Pat sent us to has one rated at 150# http://www.hardwaresource.com/Store_ViewProducts.asp?Cat=734

But I cannot see what buttom you press to release it.

Again thanks guys. I'm sure I will use both those sites for something in my camper upgrades on the new camper.

Denis,
Does your 1950 have the shelf that swings out over the foot of the bed? That's what we had on our 2002 1950. We used to put the TV on the bed when we needed the shelf for extra workspace in the kitchen. It would swing all the way over in front of the wardrobe. Made a great place for dishes while drying, etc.
