We wanted one for geocaching so Santa is bringing us a Garmin 60CSx. Mr Tweety did the research so I don't know much about the features, but usually when an engineer does the research all turns out well :wink: .

Briefly here what happened.

I call staples about them price matching wa put on hold for 5 minutes then was told they were still checking put back on hold for several minutes then I heard ringing again and I hung up.

Then called back and the manager answered, I told him I kow what time of the year it is and how busey thet are. If you can't help me just tell me so and I'll move on. he said he would help and could price match target.

When I went into the store I asked for the manager i talked to and he checked me out at a separate register, I gave him the 10% coupon and he said good you have the coupon and I got the discount.

I would have paid the $119 without the discount but he gave it to me.

Used it this am, and going again now just trying it out so far it works great.

What's the name of the Blackberry app for geocaching?

Here is a big hint for everyone if you want to use BlackStar:
1. Download the software to your PC and then use the BlackBerry DeskTop Manager to load the app into your BlackBerry.
2. Then, shut the BlackBerry off and disconnect the battery for a few seconds.

Apparently this is one of those apps that needs to be loaded from the PC rather than direct download and also needs the cold boot created by disconnecting the battery. I read over all the reviews of the software in the BlackBerry, and these two points were repeated over and over. Everyone who reported problems loading or running the software failed to take these two steps. I did these two steps on my Curve 8530 and it worked like a charm.

Hi Folks

Thanks for the tip at Staples. My daughter is manager at a local one here in town if I go that route. So I know who to call at least for a price match....

To the Blackberry users, there is a free Google maps app you can down load. I have it on mine and it is better then nothing. However I would not use it to tow with unless DW uses it can tells me which way to turn. However...sometimes that does not always work. So a neutral talking GPS might be a better long term situation...

Hello All, and Merry Christmas!
In regards to GPS, it has been reported that GPS units are popular with the "smash and grab" crowd.
Any indication there may be a GPS in your vehicle, such as tell tale "rings" on the windshield from the suction cup, makes your vehicle a target.
If you also have a garage door opener in the vehicle, and your GPS is programmed with your home by just pushing the "HOME" button, the thugs know where you live and have access.

Thanks for the heads up. I was going to follow HenryJ suggestion and use the bean bag friction mount you throw up on the dash. So when the vehicle is vacated the mount and associated parts go out of site.

Also part of the “smash and grab” crowd is lap tops. Yes I know who would leave there lap top out in the open??? Well by the crime ring reports, lots of them….

Out of site and out of mind even in a campground.

Shucks!
Forgot to mention that no GPS is needed for the scumbags to find your house.
Most of us probably keep the registration and proof of insurance in our vehicles, because we are required to have them when we drive. So if the perps get your garagedoor opener and your address off the registration, voilá, they have access and know where you live. Then it's just a race to see who gets there first!
