First snow of the season

We got about 4" in western Maryland today, got my camera out for a few pics. Here's one;

Hi Rich,

Well, I got about 5" but I live on the side of small mountain just west of I-81, exit 8. I didn't get to take pics as I was cleaning off bus, chaining up bus, going out in truck to help other girlfriends chain up their buses. Roads were very bad, I did a 360 in my truck while in 4x4 and crawling. Was on a bad spot in road that claims a lot of cars, but I did no damage, just a nice slow donut. We have a 2 hour delay tomorrow, I still have chains on the bus, will decide if I need them in the am. My son lives next door, and he plowed my driveway, his driveway and the long joint driveway. We live at least a 1/4 mile off main road. I could really do wthout ever seeing this white crap ever again. I am NOT a snow person. Hopefully in 9 years, I can retire and become a snowbird

We've got about a foot of snow this week in the Tug Hill region of northern NY. Temps went down to -6 degrees last night. Looks like we might have a white Christmas this year.

Yep, winter is here! Actually, I think this is the earliest snow we've had in this area in a number of years. 14 degrees? below zero? I'm like you Kitty, becoming a snowbird sounds like a good plan. I love the way snow looks after it first falls, but then, oh well, I gotta go shovel.

We havent had any snow this year it supose to be 80 today and clear. I dont think we are going to have a "White Christmas". Sorry guys I couldnt resist

We started out with freezing rain Sunday night, 17 degrees and pouring rain. Everything received a good coating of ice before it switched to snow. Spent most of the day Monday and again Tuesday in the plow truck. About a foot of snow for us too. mbart5fan hows the Lake effect down there, I was watching news10 and it looked like you guys were getting hit.

OK, I ended up with about 5 inches of snow yesterday, and no school today 12/6. The sun came out and pretty much cleared the roads. So I went out and took this pic:

I then unhooked the chains and pulled them off the tires, but left them lay on the ground as they are calling for a batch of "MIXED" slop for tomorrow. If they are not needed I can just drive off them, "IF" they are needed, all I have to do is pull them back up onto the tires. Good thing I'm not afraid to get dirty

We got about 4 inches here too. I was North of Harrisburg when it started, and saw lots of accidents. Cold here too, a whopping 13 degrees this morning when I left for work. One of my drivers had a truck gell-up on him this morning before he got out of the lot. These guys just don't listen when I tell them to add the conditioner to their tanks. So he had to unload and reload onto the old spare truck....hah.

The lake effect has drifted south of us (Copenhagen) and is hitting the Sandy Creek/Pulaski area now. We got another 6" with more expected this weekend. Seems like I was camping not long ago.

Biodiesel isn't readily available here, and where it is available it's more $$$ than regular diesel, sooooo we don't use it. From what I've been told it has mostly the same properties as regular diesel, which means you need to add stabilizer to your fuel when temps drop. Now people running used frying oil have to keep their fuel heated to use it, maybe that's what you are thinking of.

Here in Rochester, NY, We have 22 inches of snow so far this season. The TT is sleeping next to the garage under a nice white blanket of the cr**. There's a three foot high pile in front of the trailer from the shoveling of the driveway. If it snow's like it did last year, that pile will be as high as the trailer.

The traveling here is not as bad as Kitty describes at her home. The local DPW has a plow for just about anything that moves and tons of salt to back it up. Only problem is that everything turns to flat white from all the salt spray.

Come on April.

After a little investigating, I found out they are switching to Biodiesel:

Biodiesel isn't readily available here either, but I suspect they'll switch over because they use their own fuel stations at the storage yards, so it won't be an issue of availability. As long as they can truck it in, they'll be fine.

Reading these posts brings back memories of past camping trips.
Mike, you mentioned Pulaski, we spent a week at Selkirk shores S.P. a few years ago. Had a great time fishing, hiking etc.
Bobo, before that, we had camped at Letchworth S.P. Really enjoyed the views there!

Next time you touch it up spray a layer of laquer over the entire decal. Maybe it will protect the paint and decal from further damage.

I suspect it was more of the sun than the snow that took the marker off. Marker ink is not protected from ultraviolet rays. It will fade totally away within a year. Try going to a hobby shop and get model paint (enamel) in a pen form. I used it to fill in a firefighter's maltese cross on my old style of license plate and it held up pretty good.
