Emergency Roadside Assistance... Any suggestions??

I have been looking at several different options, I am having some difficulty deciding which service to go with. AAA(Plus),Good Sam's,Coach Net???

I am heading to Florida to pick up our "new" to us 2007 Sunline 195 SR, and would like a little peace of mind for the trip back.

Looking for Pro's and Con's ... Thanks for your help!

I had the same question last year. After reviewign the options. AAA was too expensive.

I ended up signing up for Allstate RV club. Roughly $75 for the year. Have not used them yet so cannot give much feedback.

Hi Jason,

We've always used AAA previously but last year added the Good Sam ERS Platinum. All family vehicles are covered, including the trailer, but not so with AAA.

However, we still have AAA basic for the kid's to use (their decision, even though they are covered under the GS ERS) and the associated discounts & benefits.

Now that is an axle lift! No dragging there.

How did they chain it from rolling foward? Where they under the back of the camper? Can only see chains in one direction.

We have Good Same Emergency Road Service, we've had it for years and have been very pleased with it.

We have 3 kids all driving with their own cars and the GS ERS covers their cars too. That's an added bonus for us.

Just renewed it for another 3 years, that's how happy we are with it.

JohnB, the tow driver had "large" hooks attached to chains that he connected somewhere under the Sunline and those chains went to the rear of the flatbed.

Folks just have to understand these people that do the towing are just companies that agreed to tow your rig and get paid buy the ERS company. The tow company is not actually an employee of the ERS Service. So, often there is some delay in finding a tow company in "your location" that will agree to these terms. One will be found, but it might take a little while as they might not be right near where you are broke down. In my case, with the trailer being the disabled vehicle, it really took a "special rig" to get me to a repair facility, since Sunny had to be backed up onto that flatbed (And YES, I HAD to do the BACKING) Had a whopping 3 or 4 inches of clearance on each side of Sunnys tires.

Thanks for all the help. After reading your post and doing more research online, I went with Good Sams ERS. I will be heading out tomorrow to pick up the 195 SR in Florida!!! Thanks again for all the info!!

Doesn't your auto insurance cover such things if the trailer is on the policy--just like your tow vehicle??

I guess it would depend on your insurance policy and if you have any riders attached.

Our auto insurance policy does not cover towing of the Trailer or road side assistance on the Trailer or any other vehicles. That's why we purchased GS ERS.

Our auto insurance policy only covers collision on the Trailer. Our homeowner’s policy covers such things as theft of property from the Trailer.

We specifically asked this of our insurance agent when we switched to a new provider (liberty mutual) He said as long as the trailer is hooked to the truck that both vehicles would be taken care of. The trailer is on the policy, but it's the truck that has the roadside assistance. He had to call the underwriter to check, but was told that as long as the 2 are hooked together we're good for towing of both. I'm pretty sure that if we're rolling down the highway that the trailer and truck are going to be connected, and if they're not? Then we're gonna need more than a tow. That said, if Mr Tweety wasn't so handy I think I'd rather be safe and have Good Sam because they are RV specific and know where to take an RV and how to service one.
