Coleman PU's now out

What a shame. We had a Coleman PUP in the early '80s and then again right before the QUE. It was a great product! When we had an issue with tiny little cracks in our front trunk they took it back to the factory and fixed it for us free of charge.

It's sad for the workers in Somerset county. As for the Coleman brand name, someone will buy it and begin building the pop-ups again, would be my guess.

Heartland recently acquired the intellectual property rights from Glendale when they went out of business. Heartland just came out with the BigHorn-Titanium which utilizes the Glendale over-cab fifth wheel design. Very cool. Heartland also owns the "Prowler" name, which is a brand of camper I see all the time in our travels here. They are, of course, redesigned and I've heard very good things.

I would think the coleman name has enough positive brand value that someone will buy the rights to the name and we'll see them in production again shortly.

It's hard to say if that will happen or not. Unlike Heartland acquiring the Fleetwood names, this involved licensing from Coleman, which complicates the situation a lot.

It seems that for several years now, the market is to pay less for less. There hasn't been the market to pay a little more for a little better quality as we saw with Sunline. There's still a market for the extreme however as we see in Airstream and Tabbert Caravan in Europe.
