How do you make coffee when not camping at a facility with an electric hook-up? My wife and I are planning a 4-day NASCAR weekend at Pocono in August and we've got to have our coffee. We do not own a generator.

We have an aluminum coffee pot that we use on the stove.

Same here, the good old aluminum pot on the stove. Be sure to get an disk paper filter for the basket to cut down on the grounds. But then again, good camp coffee always has some grounds in it. It's good fiber!

We use a stainless steel coffee pot on the stove. I believe we bought it at Dicks Sporting Goods a few years ago.

We use the Coleman Drip coffee maker which works on a gas stove. It works as well as any electric drip coffee maker but you can't leave it on the flame to keep it warm after brewing.

We like Drip better than Perked. You can find these at Dept Stores or at Camping World.

We make coffee using a French Press. It's simple, and it makes about the best tasting coffee you can get. There are various kinds but they all involve mixing course ground coffee and hot water, letting the mixture steep for four minutes, and then inserting a plunger which traps the grounds in the bottom. You then pour the coffee into a cup or, if you're like us, you have a French Press mug and drink it directly from the mug. No filter, no pot to wash out.

Mdfiregal and I are both tea drinkers so we don't have an issue with brewing coffee, but it brings up the problem of one cup for Carol's Mom.

Our solution :idea: ....coffee bags :shock: , yes think teabag except with coffee grounds!! They are available in most of the larger grocery stores.

Ditto here, Paul! That Coleman drip coffee maker is based on a Mr. Coffee drip coffee maker; just adapted to work over a gas stove instead of the usual 110vac. I happen to have that Mr. Coffee here in our kitchen.

It's kind of nice because I am always brewing up a pot of coffee the same way; identical amounts of coffee and water at home or on campsite. And the pots are interchangeable which really helped when I broke one last year.

I'm the only one that drinks coffe and I use a french press. All I need to do is be able to boil water.
