My wife and I started camping around 3 years ago (about the time that gasoline prices started to rise). We bought a new Sunline 2363. Our 2nd camping experience was during the September, "Ivan the Terrible" hurricane. At about 5:00 in the morning we were awakened by the campground manager saying that we better move our trailer - NOW. (Our site was approximately 50 yards from a good sized creek and at the bottom of a hill.) We stepped out into heavy rain and ankle deep water. By the time we figured out what we needed to do (remember that this was our 2nd camping experience) and moved our trailer, we were walking in knee deep water. Talk about trial by water. We moved our TT to the top of the hill and had a wonderful time for the rest our stay. Since then, our camping experiences have been much less stressful.

Last year, we half-heartedly decided to look for a trailer with a little more "living room" space. Well, Lee Vought at Stoltzfus RV in southeast PA, asked us to come down and take a look at a prototype Sunline 2763. What harm could that do? Right? We were only going to look. Five minutes after we checked out the new trailer, we decided to upgrade. We love our new digs.

We try to get away about 2ce each month to do a long weekend at a local campground. In the Spring and Fall we try to make week-long trips.

My wife is a retired secretary. She enjoys bead jewelry making, stamping, and other crafts. I'm a retired elementary & middle school instrumental music teacher and band director. I teach a few private lessons, substitute teach occasionally, and am an active tuba player in a local brass quintet.

Our first outing this year will be April 13th. Very excited about packing up the trailer, gathering our 2 cats, getting away from home, and being with other people with a love of "roughing it." :)

We keep an eye on the road and at campgrounds for other Sunlines. We are a select group, worthy of getting to know.

Happy Trails!

Welcome to the forum and hopefully you have good weather for your first week-end camping.

April 13th will also be our first camping week-end of the season. So lets pray for a warm spring week-end.

Wow, I'm glad to hear that is going to be a good day for others, too. That day just happens to be my birthday! We'll be flying in from Florida the night before, but oh I wish I could go camping right away. Even with the weather nice, I think it would be hard to find a MI campground open then. My first weekend will be the first weekend in May. I can't wait :D , though it would be better with a Sunline  .

Hi Jon,

Happy Birthday - a little early. Mine's the 8th. I guess all great people were born in April :D

Keep your fingers crossed for us, we'll be camping in WNY right on Lake Ontario. Coming from MI, I'm sure you know what lakes can do to the temps.

Hi Hutch,

Thanks, and Happy Birthday to you too. I don't want to introduce any bad luck here, but I was born on FRIDAY, the 13th. I don't find 13 unlucky, maybe because the Friday I was born on was Good Friday, so its all good!

I sure know what water does to air temp. In the summer, we have some days (when up north, that is) that differ greatly from others, simply due to wind off the lake. Of course, being in an RV up there really makes things difficult because the awning is constantly in and out. On minute it will be calm, and the next 15 mph wind. It's power, so its just a flick of a switch. I've seen a lot of people lose awnings up there and have put a couple up myself for people who leave on day trips with the awnings down. In fact, I remember one summer where the conditions were just right for a storm to come across the lake and come on shore, only to pass and then circle around again, a number of times. I remember watching the weather channel and seeing a huge circular band of rain. The bodies of water and wind from it really can change the weather in an instant. Many people from Michigan say "if you don't like Michigan weather, just wait a minute and it will change".
