Camp Pies

1 can (favorite flavor) fruit pie filling caned or fresh
1 can large (like Grands) biscuits or your favorite bread
Margarine or Butter
Cinnamon Sugar to taste
Pie Irons
Campfire

First spray both of your pie iron halves with Pam. Roll out two biscuits big enough to cover your pie irons. Place large spoon of filling in center of one half and then lay the the other piece of dough on top. Then close up the iron, and you are ready to cook. Hold above a low to medium fire several minutes until done while turning over every so often. After the first couple of minutes check your pies for doneness. This could take several moments depending on the temp of your fire. When they are done to your liking sprinkle with cinnamon sugar as soon as you remove from heat. Eat carefully! Fillings do get hot! Warning habit forming!

You can also use two pieces of bread in the same way as well.

If you are not in the mood for anything sweet you can also make savory treats as well. A ham and cheese, grilled cheese or camp pizzas can also be made with your pie irons. There are so many things you can do with them, so have fun with it!

Happy camp cooking

My wife's uncle does their eggs for breakfast in the pie irons. I have to sit down and watch how he does them before I attempt it.
